It's been around a week since Bruno left. My feelings for him have increased so much in such little time, that I increasingly miss him with every passing day. I meant it when I took him to the stars that night; I wanted to show him that I truly care about him and that we're meant to be, and that no matter what happens, I'll always care about him no matter how much life gets in the way.
Speaking of which, I'm currently at the cafe, and people are beginning to recognize me. These past few days I've often been asked if I'm Bruno Mars' girlfriend or if I was associated with him in any way. I just tell them that I'm a friend of his. I don't want people freaking out over the fact that I'm his girlfriend; also, I wouldn't want customers telling a bunch of other people, then it would attract unnecessary attention to the cafe.
"Hey Amber?" Chloe calls out my name as she unwraps the coffee syrups that just came in.
"Yeah, what's up?" I ask her wiping my apron.
"How's Bruno doing?"
"Ah, he's good. I just spoke with him a few days ago after his NYC concert."
"I'm glad. Girl, you have no idea how lucky you are," she begins to laugh.
"Thanks... I mean, I wouldn't have found out about his music if it weren't for you," I smile.
"That's very true...hey, you know what? I'm actually glad you haven't been telling the customers that you're his girlfriend and that you're just a friend. It could bring the media here, you know? I wouldn't want any stress to come to you," She begins as she unboxes what we received from the factory.
"That's exactly what I was just thinking earlier. I wouldn't wanna drag any sorts of disturbances here. Bruno and I even made an agreement to just keep it between friends and family for now," I start.
"Yeah. It's a good idea that when you guys hung out you were always disguised," she adds.
"Definitely. I can thank winter for that, anyway," we both laugh.
"How has Dahlia been?" Chloe asks.
"Ah, she's good. We're both happier now that our family has been united again," I elucidate.
"Yeah, I'm really happy for you guys that that asshole is out of your lives... I can see that it was really hurting you," she explains.
"Yeah, it was... but my mom finally woke up. I'm thankful she even visited the cafe a few days ago," I explain. A few days ago she came over to the cafe and she came to my house for dinner afterwards.
"I'm really happy for you," Chloe flashes me a warm smile.
"Thanks so much," I respond as Constance calls our names.
"Do you know what cake flavors we're gonna be making soon?" I ask Chloe as Constance calls us into the bakery.
"Probably Valentine's Day stuff," she shrugs.
That's right...Valentine's Day is a month from now. It's a shame Bruno will be on tour... I would've loved to have spent it with him. Who knows when I'll see him again.
"Hello Chloe and Amber! Just wanted to let you girls know that soon we will need to be making Valentine's Day cakes and St. Patrick's Day cakes, in addition to more pies," she exclaims.
"No problem!" Chloe and I reply as Constance leads us over to new frostings and cake mixes that just came in; red velvet, carrot cake, green apple cake, and pie fillings.
"I'll take over barista duty for now as you can start baking," Constance replies.
"Thanks!" Chloe and I reply as we begin to bake. We only have around an hour and a half left of our shift, so we can bake today and put it out tomorrow.
