The soft sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the living room of the Xavier Institute. Y/N stretched languidly on the couch, her mind still foggy from sleep. It was one of those lazy days when nothing felt urgent, and she relished the idea of doing absolutely nothing.
Just then, a burst of energy entered the room. "Y/N! You awake?" Alex called, his playful voice echoing off the walls.
"Barely," she replied, stifling a yawn as she turned to see him leaning against the doorframe, a wide grin on his face. "What's got you so excited?"
"I had an idea," he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Let's build a blanket fort!"
Y/N's lips curled into a smile. "A blanket fort? Really? Aren't we a bit old for that?"
"Never!" Alex declared dramatically. "Building a blanket fort is a timeless tradition. Plus, it'll be fun!"
Before she could protest further, Alex was already gathering blankets and pillows from the nearby couch. He tossed one to her with a playful grin, and she caught it easily, laughter bubbling up inside her.
"Okay, okay," she relented, joining him as they began to drape blankets over the furniture. With each piece they added, the cozy space grew, transforming the living room into a magical hideaway.
After a few minutes of construction, they stepped back to admire their handiwork. The fort was complete—spacious enough to fit both of them comfortably, adorned with twinkling fairy lights that Alex had strung up, casting a soft, enchanting glow around them.
"It's perfect," Y/N said, clapping her hands in delight. "Now, what do we do inside our masterpiece?"
"Movie marathon, of course!" Alex declared, pulling out a small stash of snacks he had prepared. "I brought popcorn, candy, and all the essentials."
They crawled inside the fort, settling among the pillows and blankets. Alex positioned the laptop in front of them, and as he pressed play on the first movie, Y/N snuggled up next to him, her head resting comfortably against his shoulder.
They laughed through the film, sharing playful banter and teasing each other over their favorite characters. The atmosphere was light and filled with the carefree spirit of childhood.
"I can't believe you actually like this movie," Alex chuckled, tossing a piece of popcorn at her playfully. "It's so cheesy!"
"Cheesy is the best part!" she shot back, grabbing a handful of popcorn and tossing it back at him. "You just don't appreciate the classics."
As the first movie ended, they began to share stories from their childhoods, reminiscing about silly moments and favorite memories. Y/N found herself laughing harder than she had in a long time as Alex recounted tales of his youthful escapades—getting caught sneaking into movies or the time he tried to impress a crush by showing off his powers.
"Let me guess, it didn't go well?" she teased, raising an eyebrow.
Alex chuckled, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly. "Let's just say it was a learning experience."
As the hours passed, the fort became a cocoon of warmth and laughter. They snuggled closer, Y/N's heart swelling with happiness as Alex wrapped an arm around her. She felt safe and loved, a feeling that made everything else fade into the background.
When the movie marathon turned into a series of comfortable silences, they found themselves curled up together, a blanket draped over them like a warm hug. The fairy lights twinkled softly above, and the world outside felt miles away.
"Y/N?" Alex murmured, his voice soft as he looked down at her.
"Hmm?" she replied, her eyes half-closed, feeling drowsy.
"Do you ever think about the future?" he asked, his tone turning serious.
She turned to face him, curiosity piqued. "Sometimes. Why?"
"I don't know," he said, running a hand through his hair. "I just feel really lucky to be here, with you. I want to make more memories like this, even when we're older. I want us to always have these moments."
Her heart fluttered at his words, warmth spreading through her. "Me too, Alex. I can't imagine a future without moments like this, with you."
They shared a comfortable silence, the weight of their feelings hanging in the air. It was a moment filled with promise and unspoken affection, and it felt perfect in its simplicity.
"Alright, enough deep talk," Alex said suddenly, breaking the tension with a laugh. "Back to the movie!"
With that, he grabbed the remote and pressed play again, but Y/N could hardly focus on the screen. Instead, she found herself lost in the warmth of his presence, the way he made her feel so completely at ease.
As the night wore on and the movies blurred into one, they drifted into a peaceful slumber, tangled up in each other's arms, feeling perfectly content and in love. The blanket fort surrounded them like a protective bubble, a reminder of the magic of the moment and the adventures still to come.
