You stood by the edge of the field, the wind rustling through the trees as you glanced up at the clouds moving across the sky. It was one of those rare quiet moments at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and you were grateful for the peace. You exhaled slowly, feeling the energy of the earth beneath your feet, ready to spring into action if needed. Your powers were nothing flashy—at least compared to others—but they were enough to give you an edge. You could slow time for short bursts, creating moments where everything around you moved at a crawl, while you could move as if nothing had changed. It wasn't like you could stop time entirely, but when things got dangerous, a few seconds could make all the difference.

"Hey, Y/N!" A familiar voice called, startling you from your thoughts.

You turned just in time to see a blur of silver flash across the field, and in an instant, Peter Maximoff was standing right next to you. His silver hair was ruffled, his trademark smirk already plastered on his face as he casually leaned against the tree beside you, acting as if he hadn't just run across the entire estate in a heartbeat.

"Taking a break from being awesome?" he asked, eyes twinkling with amusement.

You rolled your eyes but couldn't help the small smile tugging at your lips. "Something like that. What about you? Are you just here to show off, or do you actually have a reason for running across the state in five seconds?"

Peter grinned wider, pushing off the tree and stepping closer to you. "Why not both?"

He was always like this—full of energy, always moving, always ready with a sarcastic comment. You liked that about him, though. Peter's lighthearted attitude was a breath of fresh air compared to the intensity of everything else around you at the mansion. It was part of what had drawn you to him in the first place.

"You know," Peter continued, reaching out to take your hand, his fingers playing lightly over yours, "we could go anywhere right now. I mean, anywhere. In the blink of an eye. What do you say?"

You tilted your head, raising an eyebrow at him. "Anywhere?"

He shrugged, that cocky grin never leaving his face. "Anywhere you want, babe. We could be on the other side of the world before anyone even noticed we were gone."

It was tempting. You'd been dating Peter for a while now, and one of the things you loved most about him was his spontaneity. He always had these wild ideas, dragging you along on adventures that usually ended in laughter and some form of chaos.

But today, something felt different. Maybe it was the calm of the day, or maybe it was the way Peter's fingers lingered on your skin, but you found yourself wanting something quieter, something more intimate.

"Actually," you said, turning to face him fully, "I was thinking we could do something... simpler."

Peter's grin faltered slightly, his brow furrowing in confusion. "Simpler? Like what?"

You squeezed his hand, giving him a soft smile. "Stay here with me. We don't need to go anywhere. Let's just... slow down."

Peter blinked, clearly caught off guard by your request. Slowing down wasn't exactly in his nature. He was used to racing through life, moving at a speed no one else could keep up with. But as he looked at you, his expression softened, and he nodded.

"Okay," he said, his voice quieter than usual. "Yeah, I can do that."

You smiled, relieved that he understood what you needed. With a gentle tug, you led him over to the tree you'd been standing by, sitting down on the grass and pulling him down beside you. Peter followed your lead, sitting close enough that your shoulders brushed. For a moment, the two of you sat there in silence, the breeze rustling the leaves around you.

It was peaceful.

You leaned your head against Peter's shoulder, closing your eyes as you felt his arm wrap around you, pulling you closer. Time felt like it slowed, but this time, it wasn't your powers doing it. It was just the quiet, the warmth of being with him.

Peter, for once, didn't fidget or move around. He just sat there with you, his usual energy contained, as if he could sense that this was exactly what you needed.

"Do you ever wish things were... different?" you asked softly, your voice barely above a whisper.

Peter glanced down at you, his silver hair falling into his eyes. "What do you mean?"

You hesitated, unsure how to explain the feeling that had been growing inside you lately. "I mean... I know you love moving fast, but sometimes I wonder if you ever get tired of it. Always being on the go, always needing to be somewhere else."

Peter was silent for a moment, his thumb absentmindedly tracing circles on your shoulder. When he spoke, his voice was uncharacteristically serious.

"I guess... I don't think about it much," he admitted. "I'm used to going fast. It's what I do. But... when I'm with you, it feels different. Like I don't have to be rushing all the time."

You opened your eyes, looking up at him. His usual smirk was gone, replaced by something softer, more vulnerable.

"I like being here with you," he continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "I like... slowing down, even if it's not something I'm good at."

Your heart swelled at his words, and you reached up to cup his cheek, pulling him down for a gentle kiss. His lips were warm, soft against yours, and for a moment, everything else melted away. It was just the two of you, the world slowing to a crawl as your powers intertwined with the quiet peace of the moment.

When you finally pulled away, Peter rested his forehead against yours, his breath mingling with yours in the quiet night.

"Thank you," you whispered, your thumb brushing over his cheek.

Peter smiled, a real, genuine smile. "Anything for you, babe."

And in that moment, as the two of you sat beneath the tree, the world seemed to stop spinning. For once, time wasn't rushing past. It was just you and Peter, in the here and now, wrapped in each other's presence.

No need to run, no need to go anywhere.

Just the two of you, in perfect stillness.
