The atmosphere in the mansion was thick with tension as Y/N paced the common room, her heart pounding with frustration. Ever since Scott had taken on a more prominent leadership role within the X-Men, Y/N had begun to feel like a secondary character in her own life. Their relationship, once vibrant and full of mutual respect, had devolved into a series of arguments over Scott's need to control every aspect of their mission and, increasingly, their personal lives.

They had met during training sessions, their chemistry undeniable from the start. Y/N admired Scott's dedication to the team and his unwavering sense of responsibility. But as time passed, that admiration turned into something more complex. She often found herself caught between supporting his leadership and asserting her independence.

After a particularly grueling mission that had seen Scott make decisions without consulting her, she finally reached her breaking point. The mission had gone smoothly, but the way Scott had sidelined her left her feeling more like an afterthought than a partner. She had taken a risk to help him during the fight, but he had brushed off her efforts, treating her like a junior officer rather than an equal.

When Scott walked in after another long day of training, his brow furrowed in concentration as he reviewed mission reports, Y/N decided it was time to confront him.

"Scott, we need to talk," she said, her voice steady but strained.

He glanced up, surprise flickering across his features. "Can't it wait? I have a lot on my plate right now."

"No, it can't wait!" she snapped, taking a step forward, her emotions boiling over. "I'm tired of you trying to control everything. I need you to listen to me."

He dropped the reports on the table and straightened, his posture shifting into that familiar leadership stance. "I'm not trying to control you, Y/N. I'm just trying to keep the team safe. You know the risks involved."

"And what about my independence?" she shot back, frustration bubbling over. "I'm not a child, Scott! I can make my own decisions without you hovering over me all the time!"

His eyes narrowed, a mix of defensiveness and irritation in his expression. "I'm trying to protect you! This isn't just about you; it's about all of us. My leadership means making tough choices, and sometimes that includes you!"

"Leadership shouldn't mean dictating every part of my life!" she argued, her voice rising. "I thought we were partners, but it feels more like you're my boss! I deserve to have a say in my own life!"

Scott stepped closer, the tension between them crackling like electricity. "You think this is easy for me? I care about you, Y/N. I don't want to see you get hurt out there. It's my job to lead, and that means making hard decisions for everyone involved!"

"Then make it simple!" she countered, stepping forward. "I'm giving you an ultimatum, Alex. Either you make more time for our relationship, or I'm walking away."

She felt her heart race as she delivered the ultimatum, her frustration boiling over. She was done feeling like a ghost in their own relationship, constantly overshadowed by Scott's sense of duty.

Silence fell between them, the air thick with unspoken words. Scott's jaw clenched, frustration and concern battling for dominance. He opened his mouth to respond, but before he could find the right words, Y/N stepped closer, her heart pounding.

"Scott, I love you, but I need you to understand that I'm my own person," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

His expression softened, the fight draining from him. "I love you too, Y/N. I just—"

But she didn't let him finish. In that moment of vulnerability, all the anger and frustration melted away. Y/N closed the distance between them, cupping his face in her hands as she kissed him passionately. The kiss was fierce, filled with all the words they couldn't say, a melding of love and longing.

When they finally pulled apart, both breathless, Scott searched her eyes. "I don't want to control you. I just want to keep you safe."

Y/N smiled softly, relief washing over her. "And I appreciate that, but you have to trust me. We can navigate this together."

Scott nodded, his heart swelling with affection. "I promise to give you more space. We're a team, and I need to remember that."

Hand in hand, they stood together, knowing that their love could withstand the storm. Together, they would find a balance, a partnership that celebrated both independence and leadership, united in their commitment to each other.

As they embraced, Y/N felt a renewed sense of hope. It wouldn't be easy, but with their hearts aligned, they could face any challenge—together.
