The dim light of the training room flickered as Y/N paced back and forth, her heart racing with frustration. She had been waiting for Alex for hours, her hopes of a quiet evening together dwindling with each passing minute. When he finally walked in, his uniform slightly disheveled, she felt a mix of relief and anger bubble within her.
"Alex, we need to talk," she said, her voice firm but strained.
He dropped his bag and ran a hand through his hair, exhaustion evident in his eyes. "Can't it wait? I just got back from a mission, and I'm—"
"No, it can't wait!" Y/N interrupted, taking a step closer, her emotions boiling over. "I'm tired of waiting for you, Alex. It feels like your superhero duties always come first, and I'm left here in the shadows."
He frowned, crossing his arms defensively. "You know I have responsibilities. People rely on me. It's not just about us; it's about the team, the mission—"
"Exactly!" she shot back, her voice rising. "I'm here too, and I deserve to be a priority. I can't keep doing this—waiting around for scraps of your time. You need to decide what's more important: saving the world or being with me."
Alex's expression hardened, frustration flashing in his eyes. "You don't understand what it takes to do what I do. It's not that simple!"
"Then make it simple! I'm giving you an ultimatum, Alex. Either you make more time for our relationship, or I'm walking away." The weight of her words hung heavily in the air, each syllable slicing through the tension.
He shook his head, his frustration boiling over. "You can't be serious! You'd really leave? Just because I'm trying to do what's right?"
"I'm not just asking for your attention; I'm fighting for something bigger too—us!" she replied, her voice trembling with passion. "I'm tired of feeling like an afterthought. I need to know that you want this as much as I do."
For a moment, they stood in silence, the air crackling with unspoken words. Alex's expression softened, his shoulders dropping as the fight slowly left him. "I do want this, Y/N. But you have to understand—being a hero isn't just a job; it's a part of who I am."
"And being with you is a part of who I am," she countered, stepping closer, her heart pounding in her chest. "But I can't keep waiting forever. I deserve more than this."
As their emotions peaked, the tension between them shifted. Y/N could see the conflict in Alex's eyes, a battle between his duty and his love for her. In that moment, everything else faded away, and all that mattered was the two of them.
"I can't bear to lose you," he whispered, taking a tentative step forward, vulnerability seeping into his voice.
Y/N's heart ached at his admission. "Then show me you care," she urged, her breath hitching in her throat.
In an instant, the air around them ignited. Alex closed the distance between them, his hands cupping her face as he leaned in, capturing her lips with his own. The kiss was fierce and passionate, a collision of emotions that spoke volumes where words failed.
When they finally broke apart, both breathless and wide-eyed, Y/N searched Alex's face for answers. "So, what now?"
He rested his forehead against hers, his breath warm against her skin. "I'll make time. I promise. We'll find a way to make this work—together."
Y/N smiled, relief flooding through her as she nodded. "That's all I wanted to hear."
Hand in hand, they stood in the training room, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that they were in this together.
