The bar pulsed with energy, laughter mixing with upbeat music, creating a lively atmosphere that felt electric. I was out with my friends from the X-Men—Jean, Ororo, and Kurt—squeezed into a booth, celebrating the end of another long week. It was supposed to be a carefree night, a chance to unwind and forget about the chaos of the world outside.
Logan had decided to join us, and my heart swelled at the sight of him. There was something about his rugged charm and confident demeanor that made him stand out, but it was the way he looked at me—like I was the only one in the room—that sent butterflies fluttering in my stomach. The warmth of his presence wrapped around me, grounding me amid the bar's chaotic energy.
"Y/N! You should totally try this drink!" Jean exclaimed, pushing a vibrant cocktail my way. I grinned and took a sip, the sweet and tangy flavors exploding on my tongue.
"Wow, that's good!" I said, excitement dancing in my voice. Laughter flowed freely around the table, and I felt lighter than I had in days, soaking in the joy of being with friends.
As the night wore on, I stole glances at Logan, who sat a bit away from the booth, his expression relaxed but his eyes ever-watchful. There was something comforting about knowing he was looking out for me. His protective nature only made me feel safer, and I loved that he was here, that he was mine.
But soon, my attention turned to a group of guys at the bar. Their loud voices cut through the laughter, and I could feel their eyes lingering on us, a bit too interested for comfort.
"Ugh, not this again," I muttered under my breath, instinctively glancing at Logan, who had straightened in his seat.
"Y/N, keep an eye on those guys," he warned, his voice low and serious.
"I can handle it, Logan," I replied, a hint of irritation creeping into my tone. I appreciated his protectiveness, but I wanted to enjoy the night without feeling like I was being coddled. "Let's just relax and have fun, okay?"
Moments later, the guys swaggered over, their bravado on full display. "Hey there, ladies," one of them slurred, his gaze drifting over us like a hungry wolf. "What's a bunch of pretty girls like you doing in a place like this?"
My stomach twisted at their unwelcome attention. "We're just enjoying our night," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.
But the guy wasn't done. "Why don't you come sit with us? We could show you a real good time."
Before I could respond, Logan moved closer, his presence radiating a fierce energy. "Back off," he said, his tone edged with a warning that sent a chill down my spine.
The guy laughed, brushing off Logan's words as if they were meaningless. "And who's going to make me?"
In that moment, Logan's demeanor shifted. I could see the protective instincts rising to the surface. "I will," he growled, and I felt a mix of relief and annoyance.
I took a step forward, my voice rising. "Logan, I can handle this!" My frustration spilled out, the heat of the moment igniting my temper. I hated feeling like a damsel in distress.
The tension between us crackled, and I could see the guys hesitating, clearly unnerved by Logan's intensity. I didn't want a scene, but as the guys backed off, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude.
"Let's go," Logan said, his grip on my arm gentle but firm as he led me outside.
The cool night air hit me like a splash of cold water, and I inhaled deeply, trying to calm my racing heart. "You didn't have to do that," I said, my voice steady, but I could feel the frustration bubbling beneath the surface.
