You stood at the edge of the X-Mansion's training grounds, the evening light casting a soft glow over the sprawling estate. The familiar sound of Alex's footsteps came from behind you, but you didn't turn around just yet. Instead, you stretched your wings out—those massive, pitch-black, iridescent wings that you'd grown to love over time. They were a part of you, as much as your fiery breath or the strength that coursed through your veins.

Alex approached, his presence like a comforting warmth. "Testing out those wings again?" he asked with a playful tone.

You turned, catching his eyes, which were filled with that mischievous sparkle he always had when he teased you. "Just stretching them out," you said, flicking your tail behind you for emphasis.

Alex grinned, stepping closer and reaching out to gently brush his fingers over your wings. The touch sent a shiver down your spine. "You know," he began, his voice dropping into that soft, serious tone he only used when the two of you were alone, "I'll never get used to how amazing you are."

You laughed, leaning into him. "You'd better get used to it. You're dating me, after all."

He chuckled, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you close. The two of you fit together effortlessly, and it felt natural—comfortable. "I am," he agreed, kissing your temple. "And I'm not complaining."

You leaned against him, resting your head on his shoulder, feeling the rhythm of his steady heartbeat against your skin. "You don't think it's too much, though?" you asked, your voice quieter now, more vulnerable. "The wings, the fire, the... dragon thing?"

Alex pulled back slightly, looking at you with those intense eyes that always seemed to pierce right through you. "Too much?" he repeated, his voice filled with disbelief. "You're literally a walking force of nature, and that's why I love you. You're powerful, strong, and you don't even realize how amazing you are."

You bit your lip, his words sinking in. Alex had always been the supportive one, always there to remind you of your strength when you doubted yourself. He understood what it was like to have dangerous powers, to walk that fine line between control and chaos. And that's why, more than anything, being with him felt right.

"Speaking of power," Alex continued, a playful glint returning to his eyes, "how about you show me just how fast those wings can go?"

You smirked, stepping back from him and flaring your wings out. The evening breeze caught the edges, making them flutter like the night itself. "Oh, you're challenging me now?"

He crossed his arms over his chest, feigning nonchalance. "I think I've got some moves that could keep up."

You rolled your eyes, shaking your head. "Alex, you literally can't fly."

He grinned, his expression smug. "I know. But I can run pretty fast."

"And I can breathe fire," you countered, taking a step forward, your wings casting a dark shadow over the both of you.

Alex raised an eyebrow, clearly unphased. "I like my odds."

Laughing, you took off into the air, soaring upward with a powerful flap of your wings. The ground fell away quickly as you ascended, the cool evening air rushing past you. You glanced down to see Alex sprinting across the field below, a golden blur against the green. He wasn't as fast as some of the other mutants, but there was no denying his agility and precision.

As you circled back down toward him, you slowed your descent, hovering just out of his reach. "Not bad," you called out, "but you're going to have to do better than that."

Alex laughed, stopping to catch his breath, his hands resting on his hips as he looked up at you. "I'm just warming up," he teased.

You swooped down lower, coming to a soft landing in front of him. "Let's see how you do when there's a little fire involved." With a grin, you took a deep breath, and a small, controlled burst of flames shot from your mouth, lighting up the space between the two of you.

Alex's eyes widened, but he didn't flinch. "Show off," he muttered, his tone affectionate.

"Hey, you asked for it," you said, stepping closer until you were face to face. The warmth of the flames still lingered in the air, mixing with the heat between the two of you.

Alex reached up, gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, his hand lingering on your cheek. "I guess I did," he murmured, his voice softer now. "But honestly, I love every part of you—the fire, the wings, the strength. All of it."

You felt your heart swell at his words. Alex wasn't just talking about your powers—he was talking about everything that came with them. The responsibility, the fear of losing control, the moments when you felt like you were too much. But with him, you never felt like you were too much. You felt like you were exactly where you were supposed to be.

"And I love you," you whispered, leaning in to kiss him softly.

The kiss was gentle, but there was an underlying intensity—one that always seemed to simmer between the two of you. When you finally pulled away, Alex's eyes were soft, filled with affection that made your stomach flutter.

"So," he said, his voice low and teasing, "still think I can't keep up?"

You raised an eyebrow, smirking. "You've got a long way to go, Summers."

He grinned, pulling you close again, his forehead resting against yours. "Then I guess I'll just have to keep trying."

And with that, the two of you stood there, wrapped in each other's warmth, the stars beginning to appear overhead. You knew there would always be challenges ahead, moments when your powers—or his—would be tested. But right now, in this moment, everything was exactly how it was meant to be.

And you wouldn't have it any other way.
