You hovered just above the lawn outside the X-Mansion, feeling the wind ripple through your hair as the sun warmed your skin. The ground below seemed to pulse with life, responding to your every whim. Rocks shifted, sand swirled, and a patch of grass bent slightly as you drifted lazily in the air. You smiled to yourself, feeling completely at home in nature's embrace.
"Enjoying the view?" a familiar voice called from behind, the warm tone instantly recognizable.
You turned mid-air, your pointed ears twitching slightly as Hank McCoy approached with a smile tugging at his lips. He looked up at you with a mix of amusement and admiration, his brilliant blue fur catching the light as he crossed his arms.
"I always do," you replied with a grin, slowly descending until your feet gently touched the ground beside him. "What's not to love about flying freely and bending the earth to my will?"
Hank chuckled, his eyes softening as he gazed at you. "Well, you certainly make it look effortless."
"Effortless? Have you seen me after an intense session of earth-bending? I'm usually covered in dirt," you teased, brushing some imaginary dirt off your shirt.
Hank's smile widened, and he stepped closer, his large, gentle hand brushing your arm. "Even when you're covered in dirt, you're still magnificent," he said, the sincerity in his voice making your heart flutter.
You blushed at his compliment, a shy smile playing on your lips as you looked away for a moment. Being with Hank had always felt easy, natural—like the earth beneath your feet, solid and grounding. He had this way of seeing you, not just for your powers or what you could do, but for who you were at your core.
"I've been thinking," Hank said after a pause, his voice softening as he glanced at you with a more serious expression. "Your abilities—they're extraordinary, and I've seen how much control you've gained over them. But I wonder if you're limiting yourself. You've always focused on manipulating the earth beneath you, but what about the earth around you?"
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What do you mean?"
Hank gestured around the lawn, pointing out the trees, the rocks, and even the soil beneath the flowerbeds. "I mean, you have the power to connect with so much more than just the ground. Have you tried harnessing the raw energy in the materials around us—the minerals in the trees, the metal hidden beneath the surface?"
You blinked, surprised that you hadn't thought of that before. "I've always been more focused on the obvious—the dirt, rocks, things like that. But you're right. There's so much more..."
Hank nodded, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "You're capable of incredible things, and I'd love to help you explore those abilities. We could experiment, see just how far your connection to the earth goes."
The idea of pushing your powers to new limits with Hank by your side filled you with a thrill of excitement. "I'd like that," you said, smiling at him. "But don't be surprised if I accidentally make a tree grow out of the lawn."
Hank laughed, the sound rich and deep, and it made your heart swell. "I wouldn't expect anything less."
You reached out and took his hand, the contrast between his fur-covered palm and your skin somehow comforting. "Thank you, Hank. For always believing in me."
He looked down at your intertwined hands, then back up into your eyes. "Of course, my love. You're capable of more than even you realize. And I'm always going to be here, by your side, helping you unlock every bit of that potential."
You felt a warmth spread through you, not from the sun or the ground beneath your feet, but from the love and unwavering support Hank always gave you. It was as if his belief in you made your connection to the earth even stronger, grounding you in a way nothing else could.
Leaning forward, you pressed a gentle kiss to his lips, the moment quiet and full of affection. When you pulled back, Hank's smile was soft and adoring, his blue eyes filled with love.
"So," you said, a mischievous grin forming on your lips as you stepped back and floated a few feet off the ground. "Want to see what I can do with a few rocks and a little bit of imagination?"
Hank chuckled, stepping back as well. "Absolutely. Show me what you've got, Earth Nymph."
You waved your hand, and the ground responded instantly—rocks lifting from the earth, swirling around you in intricate patterns. Sand shifted and rose, forming shapes in the air, while a nearby tree's roots extended, intertwining with the earth beneath.
Hank watched in awe, his smile widening as you showcased the full extent of your powers. You felt completely at ease, knowing that no matter what, Hank was there, rooting for you.
With a flick of your wrist, you gently set the rocks and sand back down, floating back to the ground with a graceful landing. "What do you think?"
"I think you're extraordinary," Hank replied, his voice full of admiration.
You took his hand once more, squeezing it gently. "I think we make a pretty extraordinary team."
