Lillian's POV
All I could think was: Oh My God.
I can't believe this is my real life now.
I literally had a crown.
A real life crown.
I'm a true, bona fide Princess.
I could never have imagined this in a million years.
And I dropped the name my adoptive mother gave me.
Lots of change, in so little time.
I'm the heir to a kingdom I know almost nothing about.
Princess Lillian Lilac-Marie Nightbane.
It's definitely a mouthful.
But in this realm, it fits.
This name holds weight.
I will learn to build the strength to live up to the weight of my name.
I refuse to be a damsel in distress.
Whoever this twin uncle was, Rayden, I refuse to live in fear.
I never want to be helpless again.
The memory of Tim pinning me down flashes through my brain.
I feel a shudder run through me and nausea settles in my stomach.
Camille was helpless, Lillian will be fierce.
I take a deep breath and re-center myself.
While the room was still in an uproar of applause, dad said in my ear, "Meet me backstage with your mother."
I nodded, and stepped back behind the curtain with my parents. I noticed the new battalion's General and two Lieutenants followed us along with six other soldiers.
"Your Mother has a few things to go over with the battalion leaders, these six soldiers and you. I'm going to head back out to the celebration dinner about to start," dad started.
"Before I head back out Lillian, I want you to understand something VERY IMPORTANT! These three, he said indicating the general and lieutenants, usually just one of them for the rest of your life will always be near you."
"Their sole purpose is to protect you to the death as you are THE ONLY heir to the throne and kingdom. Your mother and I would like to think you're safe in our kingdom surrounded by people who serve us and are supposed to be loyal to the throne but we would be damn fools not to ensure your safety at all times. So, I reiterate, at least one if not all three of them will always be by your side at all times."
"They will answer to me and your Mother if they ever aren't. It would be smart for you to adhere to anything they ask of you, regarding your safety at least until you can use your powers at will. Your mother and I will personally give you advanced training along with the basics you will be taught in some classes we've arranged for you. And even then, it'd be wise to let them protect you."
"Our main duty as long as we, your parents, are alive is to make sure you're always protected, until the time you find a husband, take over the throne and can produce the next heir or multiple heirs to the throne, as your parents even then we would always be there to protect you and our grandkids as much as we possibly can."
"Whenever you do get married or find a mate you could decide to keep them as your personal guards and select new warriors. If you do not chose to select different warriors their duty would be to protect your children and to always ensure the safety of the throne to our families future generations. I understand it might take you a while to get used to this, but this is how it will be for the foreseeable future."
