Kaden's POV-

After I made sure Camille was safely in the hidden passageway I built, I shifted into and all-black panther and crept towards the front room. As I came around the bedroom corner into the hallway I melted into the corner of darkness under the table and froze as I heard almost muted, soft foot falls rounding the corner from the front room.

I stayed frozen, waiting for the Shifter to notice me at last possible second—sprang into action, I severed his vocal cords and beheaded him almost simultaneously. I quickly caught the body and head before it could hit the ground. I lifted the body and stash it in the bedroom.

As I go to stand straight up from hovering over the body I'd just moved, I noticed, a little too late, my rookie mistake—not staying constantly alert, as an arm comes tearing through my back severing my spinal cord completely causing me to momentarily sway as the hand exited my back clutching my heart. I buckled, cursing at my stupidity. As long as my head wasn't severed and burnt, I could survive without my  heart or spinal cord at the moment. My body just needs the time to heal.

My severed spine left me temporarily paralyzed until I could heal properly. I would need a lot of blood to heal the hole where my heart was and my spinal injury. Assuming I had the time and blood necessary to heal.

I lost too much blood really fast, so death sleep was coming soon.

Death sleep is what Vampyres call our temporary state of lifelessness in which all of our functions cease as our body jumpstarts the healing process to repair lots of blood loss, and regrow organs that have been most likely forcibly removed, or limbs being ripped off. Basically the equivalent of a human's body going into a coma to repair and protect itself.

As I felt death sleep gripping at my consciousness I looked up at the grinning Vampyre who'd caught me when I was vulnerable, with malice.

"This was easier than I'd thought. This is my first assignment since I've been turned by my Boss. My girlfriend was like be careful or you could easily get killed. If only she could see how easily I took you down," he bragged, "Although that Mage did help some," he mumbled as she dragged my limp body to the living room. The pain caused death sleep to consume me.

I was jerked out of my death sleep by a painful shock to my head. Before opening my eyes I assessed my situation through all my senses except sight. The first thing I noticed after my pain from the brain shock and my injuries were the numbness caused by the magically enhanced chrome cuffs—the kind that normally prevent Fae's and Mages for using their powers, which in my case prevented my body from wanting to heal itself when injured. The healing capability drops from 60% (without new blood to replenish strength and regeneration) to 20%.

I count 4 supernaturals around me. One Mage, One Fae, and Two Vampyres (And a Shifter if I counted the dead one).

Each supernatural has a distinct musk, identifiable only to others with enhanced senses.

I noted each person's position. One vampyre was outside the front door, most likely the guard, the Mage stood on the other side of the room, and the fucking Fairy in front of me. Who also was the  asshole who shocked me awake  and would die first when I got a chance. An the vampyre who caught me was nearby as well.

I opened my eyes and stared at each of them.

The Vampyre that caught me slipping is leaning on the wall by the door leading outside obviously still pleased with himself for catching me off guard.

"Oh, you're finally awake, Sleeping Beauty? I had to shock you three times. It took you long enough to open your eyes, I was just about to shock you again and the interrogation hasn't even started," the Fae announces.
