Chapter 30

Lillian's POV

I woke up with the morning sun, feeling well rested. I looked over and noticed Jesse was gone.

I got up and saw a note on the end table.

Princess,

Hey, if you're reading this I left to get in the shower and get dressed. I had Sebastian leave you some blood in the mini fridge. It's magically enhanced so it should be at the natural body temperature for you. Get dressed, we meet your pack and coven today! Also, just so you know, I didn't leave you alone, I left a female guard with you. See you soon, Jesse.

"I don't see a guard around." I said aloud as I got up out of bed.

"Hello," said a voice scaring the bejesus out of me. My fangs descended, fur bristled, and claws extended. Apparently, I also tossed a rouge fireball.

The girl screamed as the fireball was hurled towards her

Guards burst in swords drawn, and barely ducking the fireball as it singed the wall in the hallway.

Confusion was everywhere.

Jesse appeared shirtless and still had soap on his body.

Sheathed sword in hand.

He was dripping wet.

Joel wasn't far behind him.

Everyone looked at me trying to figure out what was going on.

Nathan burst around the corner partly shifted.

I wanted to crawl under a rock.

And die there.

"Where the fuck did you come from?" I asked irritated at everything.

"Sorry, Princess. I thought you knew about us."

"Lillian what's going on? I-we felt your fear." Jesse asked perplexed by the situation.

"What's going on is she popped in literally out of nowhere. She scared the absolute shit out of me and I may have tossed a rogue fireball, pure accident in the shock."

"A fireball?" Joel said smiling, "I guess I have to watch out for you throwing random elements at me when it's my turn to guard you."

Everyone relaxed at my explanation.

The female guard disappeared the same way she appeared. 

Joel followed the armed guards out. 

Nathan looked me over, clearly confirming I was unharmed. Satisfied, he3 gave a short nod before quickly leaving.

Then it was just Jesse and I left.

"Next time give me a little heads up. I could have hurt her accidentally."

"She's one of the shadow guards assigned to you. There are four in total. You generally won't see them as your mother gave them a bracelet to will themselves both invisible and visible as well as hide their presence in general. They are linked to me and the lieutenants, allowing them to warn us immediately if they spot a threat we miss. Expect to never really see them and know they're there. They are linked to myself and the lieutenants so they can warn us if they spot a potential threat we don't see."

"Duly noted, General," I said haughtily.

He smirked and headed back out. "Going to finish my shower now, Princess. Try not to roast your guards in the future," he calls out over his shoulders as he turns the corner.

The guards outside my door close it behind him.

I roll my eyes.

With all the excitement over, I sigh then head to my closet to pick out something to wear for the occasions today.
