Aurelia sits quietly in the semi empty home. Music still playing, decorations still up and about, and the smell of pizza still lingered. Everyone ended up leaving. Not everyone. Nina, Adrian, Sean, Genesis, and her boyfriends stayed. Sean, Genesis, and Andrew were outside. She could still hear Andrew shouting, and she wanted to talk to him, but his friends suggested that she wait until they tried to get him to calm down.
Waiting there, on the couch, listening to him shout like that only made her feel more guilty. She should've said something, anything, and not let them even get a chance to punch each other. She didn't though. She just stood there. Like a deer seeing headlights.
The couch dips beside her, and a hand rests on her shaking ones. Turning away from the front door, she looks at Elijah, the sadness covering her face. The male sits the ziploc bag full of crushed ice, that he had to his cheek, down on the accent table. Her heart sinks at the sight of his slightly swollen cheek. When Adrian and him broke up the first time, the two men started fighting again, which resulted in both Adrian and Eli getting hit while trying to break things up with Sean the second time.
"I... I didn't think it would make him that mad." Aurelia sniffles, but Elijah's sigh and silence made her nervous. It brought back memories of the time they both broke up with her on the same night.
"Baby," he sighs again, causing her to look down. "He wasn't actually mad. At least from what he's saying he wasn't actually mad, he was playing into your teasing and Vinny... got involved. He always... involved."
Aurelia looks down at her lap. "Why can't Andrew be like you? You don't have a problem with me being close with Vinny."
He sighs deeper than the first time, leaning back on the couch. "I don't know Vinny. So it's easier for me to not let what he does get to me, but honestly after tonight. I think you should cut things off with him. He's pissing our boyfriend off, and I don't like that. You should also feel the same way I do. Vinny behaved as if you were in some kind of danger."
Aurelia scoots away slightly, shaking her head and looking down at the bracelet he had just given her a few hours ago. "Vinny is my best friend. He was there for me when you two left me heartbroken and alone."
She plays with the charms on the bracelet. "He helped me a lot to get back with you guys as well. I just don't understand why you two feel like he's the worse guy in the world."
"He used you to get under Drew's skin for that competition." Elijah snaps, making her flinch a bit and look in his direction.
"He apologized to me, and I didn't forgive him right away."
"That's the problem, Aurelia." He frowns slightly. "He only apologized to you. He only talks to you, he's only here because it's your birthday. He's—"
