Chapter 34

Shadow's POV

Sonic: "Dearly belov- why am I the one officiating this shit?!"

I shot him a look and he immediately straightened up.

Sonic: "We are gathered here today to honor the memory of Olivia the Hedgehog and Mephiles Doom."

Eclipse: "His middle name is Riven."

I watched as blue rolled his eyes as he began to correct himself.

Sonic: "And Mephiles RIVEN Doom. Shadow."

He gestured to me.

Sonic: "Anything you'd like to say?"

I stood stiff, did I? I felt as if I didn't deserve to-

Me: "Yeah."

WHY DID I SAY THAT!!!!

I felt my body move on it's own as I moved towards the two coffins.

Me: "I honestly didn't know either of you to well... and for that.... I'm sorry. I will do my best to recover my memories of you brother, and I promise I will ... try to not forget you agian."

Eclipse: "Try???"

Me: "I have gotten amnesia so many times it might as well be a running joke."

Eclipse slowly walked up.

Eclipse: "You were my brother, and I love you. I'm sorry I couldn't save you from you inner darkness, but I hope one day... you could forgive me. Olivia.... I am so sorry. I wish I could have saved you in time..."

I put a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him.

Me: "It's not your fault."

The castle was now merely ruins, rotted and moss covered. Obvious signs of an attack were also visible.

Knuckles: "Sooo are we still going to kill those Lizard dudes or..."

Eclipse: "No. Sorry. They've been extinct for twenty years... the echidnas fought hard."

Me: "What happened here then?"

I turned to look at my younger brother, still in his Mobian form.

Eclipse: "It would be better... to show you than to tell..."

He gestured to the star stone that the false Black Doom had given me and I gave it to him.

Eclipse: "Is there... anybody you want to watch with you?"

I thought for a moment, and looked a Knuckles with a nod.

Me: "Get everybody..."

It didn't take long for everybody to make their way over to us. 

Amy: "Hey...."

Me: "Hey."

I felt Rose wrap her arms around mine, grounding me into the present. I feel... safe with her.

I nodded at my brother, who returned the nod before muttering something and the stone shattered.

Third Person POV

The team watched as the planet and castle revived and time seemed to step back, trees being smaller and flowers everywhere. 

P.(past) Shadow: "MAMA!!!"

He was running happily into the field of flowers until he reached his mother, clinging to the skirt of her dress.

Amy: "AAAWWWWW YOU WERE SO CUTE EEE!!"

P. Aurora: "Why hello my shining star... What is it?"

P. Shadow: "Look!  Watch me! Watch me!"

He let go and began to spin dash in a circle pop up and teleport back in front of her. 

P. Shadow: "Cool right?!"

P. Aurora: "Amazing, just like you darling."

A young Mephiles appeared and Eclipse began to speak.

Eclipse: "You around twelve or thirteen at the time when the incident happened."

P. Mephiles: "Mother, what is that?"

He was pointing at a ship that was landing nearby, unfamiliar to the young boys.

P. Aurora: "I don't know dearest. Shadow, sweetheart, could you please go get your father?"

P. Shadow: "MmmHmm!"

With that the young boy rushed inside the castle to retrieve his father.

That was when Gerald Robotnik stepped out of the ship.

P. Gerald: "Good evening Ma'am! I am Gerald Robotnik of planet Earth!"

Eclipse: "He fooled us all."

The scene melted and changed into the inner chambers and Gerald is seen with the twins and the younger Eclipse.

P. Gerald: "Twins, huh? You must like to match a lot."

P. Memphis: "Yeah we do!"

The small Shadow was clinging to his brother shyly and nodded.

P. Gerald: "Well, I have something for you, small one."

He patted Shadow's head, and held out a pair of rocket shoes, intriguing the boy.

 P. Shadow: "T-th-thank you"

He finally squeaked out nervously as he tried on the shoes with the help of his brother.

Gerald smiled and looked at Mephiles.

P. Gerald: "Don't be jealous little one, your present will come soon enough."

P. BD: "Gerald please don't give my children weapons."

The scene melted again as it grew into one in the wood with the twins alone.

P. Memphis: "Shadow... what do you wanna be when we grow up?"

P. Shadow: "Umm I don't know.. I mean... Father just want me to follow his footsteps..."

The two stared at each other. 

P. Memphis: "I have an idea."

The two began to talk about their plan when suddenly a metal arm was between them.

P. Memphis: "WHAT THE FU-"

It pulled back the massive rock they were sitting beside, the young Shadow, acting quickly, teleported to two out of the way and began to run hand in hand with his brother.

P. Shadow: "HANG ON!! WE'RE ALMOST-"

He was cut off as his brother hit him, knocking him over, and left him behind.

The robotic arms scooped Shadow up and slowly carried him into the ship.

P. Memphis: "Our fates are switched now brother... hopefully you can grow up to who you desire to truly be."

The scene ended with a flash the shards of the star like stone now a dim grey on the ground.
