Chapter 23

Shadow's POV

I went to sleep early tonight..... I just couldn't take everybody fussing over me....

Well that and I keep tripping on this damned tail!

I just remember blacking out and waking up.... I really don't understand why everybody freaked out so much... but maybe some sleep can clear this damn headache.

I froze when I saw Rose's things in the room they assigned to me.

Amy: "Hey..."

Me: "Hey."

I felt her arms wrap around me from behind. I felt relaxed.

Amy: "You look exhausted... hehe didn't know that happened to the 'Ultimate Lifeform'."

I turned around and let my arms wrap around her to pull her closer.

Me: "Sometimes even the strongest walls break down."

I shivered as her face buried into my chest. I felt her jump suddenly.

Me: "What?"

Amy: "Y-your tail is soft..."

She blushed. I looked down to see it had wrapped around her small waist. I smiled a bit.

Me: "I'm tired... do you want to sleep or come back later, cause I am just going to sleep this whole day away."

I did my best to look at blank as possible... didn't work.

Amy: "I want to stay with you."

With that she used her hands to cup my face and give me a small kiss, which I happily returned.

I lifted her up and placed her gently on the bed before laying beside her.

Me: "Sweet dreams, my Rose."

I kissed her forehead and then her lips before getting myself comfortable.

Amy: "Sweet dreams Shady."

I fell asleep in her embrace.

I was running through a field.... why could I see myself? I thought you weren't able to look at your- you know what never mind.... I look... small.

Little Me: "Momma!"

???: "Oh hello darling!"

The white hedgehog from the painting scooped the little me into her arms and began to hum...

Then she looked at me.

???: "You know I used to hum that to you every night.... you would always try to make words to it."

Me: "I remember."

Did I?

The scene melted replace by a small version of me, Memphis, and an extremely small Eclipse.

Little Memphis: "I promise I will always pwotect you!"

Tiny Eclipse: "OO! OO!"

Oh he's a baby... man he barely grew.

Little me: "You don't need to promise that..."

I watched the young me hide his face nervously. Only for Memphis to comfort him.
