TIKI POV
I honestly am not sure about this now. With Carlos and I going pretty much in the opposite direction, I need to keep my guard up. I may be going with him, but I don't trust him or any of the others. Carlos and I look back at each other and I bet he's thinking the exact same thing.
Carlos volunteers to part ways with Luke to find something to eat. In other words, he probably is going to see if Luke has any good information. Luke does seem to have a loose mouth. This is also good. Like Carlos said, with more help, the faster we can find clues.
"Alright, Maddie and Mason go back to the Seer and see if she can tell us anything about the Lab." Zane is taking charge n. As soon as Carlos is gone.
"But Zane—". Mason tries to object but shuts up when Zane gives him a look.
"Kenna and Nathan, find out if you can salvage anything that's left of the library at school." They both nod and head start walking with the other two.
"Tasha and I will head to the pack house and see if there is any information in the library. We meet back at Mr. Black's house!" Zane yells the last part.
"Shall we?" Zane holds out his hand, giving me a crooked smile. I hesitate but slowly put my hand in his. He flinches again then let's go. Tch, he did that yesterday too and that old tree questioned him then. He's the one who wants to touch me first.
Aren't mates like... supposed to want to touch each other? That's what Kenna said. They are very close. But maybe she lied? No, she doesn't have one a reason to lie.
I walk ahead of him and notice his mood changed. It was quiet for a little bit until I broke the silence. "You reacted that way before too, you know."
"What?" He asks like he was in a daze.
"Yesterday when you held me, you let go right away. The giant tree asked what you saw....It was me who you saw wasn't it?"
"He stops walking and finally looks at me. "Yes. I can see flashes of scenes that happened in the past with anything I come in contact with. I usually can control it so I don't know what's going on. It was never worked on an actual being before either."
I am furious. What has he seen of my past that we did not tell the others? Should I kill him now and go after the rest? What if he told the others through their mind link? I'll have to kill not just his friends but the pack to make sure they don't come after me too.
"I saw you in a dark place. Locked up, tortured and near death many times. I let go of you because I don't want to see you like that. Not ever." I don't even know what expression he is making. Is it pity? Helplessness? Anger? But I do get a chill down my spine.
"It was The Lab realm. I was in S.E.T.O. I secret place where no one knows." I hope I'm doing that right thing by telling him this. I have this feeling I should tell him.
"It stands for Supernatural Experiment Tests Organization. Come on, let's get going now." I urge him to come but he grabs my arm. He flinches and squeezes my arm harder falling to his knees. Champ's tattoo shines and slides down where his hand is holding me. He gives a sigh of relief when Champ's water energy flows over his body.
"How is he doing that?" Zane opens his eyes and sees that streaks on shining blue light onhis body.
"His element is water and water has healing qualities. He just gave you relief of all the pain you were having. I can tell you more on the way. We only have a few hours, don't we?" He gets up and slides his hand down to hold mine.
"To start, I'll go way back before what Carlos told the others and you." We begin walking through the woods.
"S.E.T.O. is all that I've ever known. It stands for Supernatural Experiment Testing Organization." I take a big breath in and out. I didn't know I'd feel uneasy talking about this. Is it because I swore never let someone get this close to me again?
"There were many experiments before and after me. Except I was the sole survivor. I can imagine the flashes you've seen of what they've done to me." I continue as I hear low growls coming from him.
"It was survival for the fittest among us experiments. We should have stuck together but the experiments that were done on each of us, blocked that sense of survival. Very few bonded, but I'm guessing it was already in their blood, their original species. Some instincts just can't be stopped. I still thought it was useless because they watched each other die and were heartbroken in the end. The ones who kept to themselves, were never left alone either. They were thought to be weak only to be underestimated. Those ones you really needed to avoid. They were the real tough ones." I look at Zane and his face is filled with, I know this one. It's hatred, his eyes are red, and his hand is squeezing mine harder. He looks at me.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. I really am." His voice is soft.
"I don't need your pity. What I need is to find the one who came before me." I scoff and glare at the ground.
He looks at me surprised but recovers and smiles at me.
"I know you would never go down without a fight. They didn't hurt you that much though, right?"
"You truly have no idea what I'm capable of. They called me, the one who spills blood. All because no one could beat me and I showed why. I killed every single one who challenged me or thought I was an easy target." I can still remember transforming and letting Sasha go free. Ripping the bodies apart and blood spilling every time.
