The next day, Delphini woke to the sensation of something digging painfully into her wrists. For several seconds she didn't understand what she was feeling. Her mind was thick and sluggish, her thoughts moving through a haze of medication and concussion, and everything around her seemed strangely distant. She could feel a mattress beneath her, a blanket over her body, the dull ache in her ribs every time she breathed and the heavy throbbing in her head, but none of it made sense. Then she tried to move. Her right wrist pulled against something solid. She jerked her left hand and felt the same resistance. Her ankles were restrained too.
Panic hit her all at once.
Delphini's eyes flew open, and she immediately began fighting against the restraints, twisting violently against the mattress as her breathing became frantic. "No! No, let me go!" Her voice came out hoarse from the damage to her lungs, but she screamed again anyway, pulling so hard against the leather that her wrists began turning red. "LET ME GO!" Sirius, who had been sitting in a chair nearby, shot to his feet, while Harry turned from the fireplace with an expression that was still hard with anger from everything that had happened the night before. Delphini barely seemed to see either of them. She was staring wildly around the room, disoriented and terrified, her mind unable to understand why she was restrained or where she had been taken.
S: "Delphini, stop. You're safe."
D: "GET AWAY FROM ME!"
She screamed so loudly that Sirius instinctively took a step back. Delphini twisted again, trying to sit up despite the restraints, but the movement sent a vicious bolt of pain through her ribs and down her injured ankle. She cried out and collapsed back onto the mattress, gasping for breath, only to begin fighting again a second later. "Where am I? Where the hell am I?!" Her eyes darted around the room, landing on Harry, and whatever fragile calm she had left disappeared completely. "You—" Her voice cracked. "You tried to kill me."
Harry's jaw clenched.
H: "And you tried to kill us."
Delphini stared at him, horrified, and then began shaking her head violently.
D: "I didn't—"
H: "Don't."
His voice was cold and furious. He had barely slept, and the grief over Moody's death was still raw enough to make every thought of Delphini feel like an insult. She was Voldemort's daughter, Bellatrix Lestrange's daughter, the girl who had stood among Death Eaters while Moody had fought for his life, and Harry still couldn't understand why she was lying in the Burrow at all. "You don't get to wake up here and start pretending you're some helpless victim."
Delphini's breathing became faster.
D: "I don't know what's happening."
H: "You know exactly what's happening."
D: "No, I don't!"
She screamed the words, tears spilling down her face as she fought the restraints again. "I don't know where I am! I don't know why I'm tied down! I don't know what you want from me!" Her voice broke completely at the end, and she began pulling so violently against the restraints that Sirius moved toward her again.
