Chapter 70: For Yimo
"My sister is a donor."
This statement obviously wasn't what Luo Ye was expecting.
Zhai Muyang was about to speak when he heard Luo Ye say, "Your sister is a good person, a kind-hearted person. She saved a family. The families on our floor are especially grateful to her for her kind-heartedness. Although she didn't save our child, she has brought us hope. Maybe the next moment, someone as kind as her will be willing to donate bone marrow, and that person might be a match for my son."
As Luo Ye spoke, tears welled up in his eyes. He wiped his face and smiled apologetically, "It's this tiny bit of hope that sustains us. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to get through a single day."
Zhai Muyang nodded in understanding and his lips curved up at the praise for Yimo.
"Yimo, my sister, has a soft heart, she wishes to show kindness to everyone and when she saw you all upset, she couldn't move her feet, but she currently doesn't have the ability to help others."
Luo Ye nervously looked at Zhai Muyang, unconsciously clenching his hands.
"You're not mistaken, I can help you." Zhai Muyang turned to look downstairs.
The height of the sixth floor was not considered high, but from this height, people on the first floor appeared as dwarves to those on the sixth floor.
If one were to stand at the height of the twentieth floor, humans would be like ants.
Yet these tiny humans ruled the world.
It was all because humans had emotions, had desires, both good and bad, that drove human progress.
Luo Ye's voice trembled as he asked in disbelief, "You... you're willing to help me? But it will require a lot of money. I won't lie to you, even if there is money, the outcome may not be good. Not everyone is fortunate enough to wait for a bone marrow match."
He was really an honest person. Zhai Muyang's lips lifted slightly. He didn't mind helping such a person.
Turning around, Zhai Muyang nodded at Luo Ye, "Take me to find your son's attending physician."
With tears in his eyes, Luo Ye restrained his overwhelming joy with great effort. He rubbed his face, finally managing to speak, "Thank you, thank you, thank you..."
He must have repeated it over a dozen times, and Zhai Muyang felt a bit uneasy. If it weren't for Yimo, he wouldn't have extended this helping hand.
Unfortunate people each had their own misfortunes; he couldn't help everyone, and he had never thought of helping. That was the government's responsibility, not his.
Coincidentally, Luo Fu's attending physician was also Guo Chao.
Seeing the two completely unrelated people walking in together, both of whom he knew, Guo Chao was somewhat surprised.
"Dr. Guo, he is... he is..." Luo Ye slapped his forehead in regret, he had forgotten to ask the kind person's name.
Zhai Muyang had no intention of introducing himself, and directly said to Guo Chao, "I will be responsible for Luo Fu's medical expenses in the future. The hospital should try to keep him alive while waiting for bone marrow, but I hope the hospital doesn't take me for a fool. Vice President Guo should understand my meaning."
Guo Chao naturally understood. Such occurrences were not uncommon. What surprised him more was why this seemingly indifferent man suddenly showed kindness.
Could it be that he had misjudged the man, and he was actually a very kind-hearted person?
After a glance at the man's face, Guo Chao dismissed this thought. If there was such a thing as a kind-hearted face, it would be more like Song Yimo.
"Sir, rest assured, Luo Fu is my patient. I will take responsibility for him and for the money you have provided."
"I believe Vice President Guo is a man of his word."
Zhai Muyang turned to the excited and bewildered Luo Ye and said, "I will transfer the money directly to your son's hospital account. But you cannot mention this to anyone. If you inadvertently bring trouble to me by speaking about it, I will immediately cut off the funding."
Luo Ye nodded repeatedly, "I understand, I understand."
Zhai Muyang nodded at Guo Chao and then turned to leave. As he reached the door, he paused and turned back, saying, "I hope this matter doesn't reach my sister's ears."
Guo Chao and Luo Ye both nodded in agreement.
Satisfied, Zhai Muyang nodded and left, pulling the door shut behind him.
Luo Ye hurried after him, "Sir..."
Zhai Muyang turned to look at him, "Is there something else?"
"Please tell me your name, sir. You are the benefactor of our Luo family. We all remember your kindness."
"No need." Zhai Muyang was about to leave when he suddenly stopped and said, "My sister's name is Song Yimo, remember her kindness."
With deep gratitude, Luo Ye watched as Zhai Muyang ignored him. Seeing that it was almost 8 o'clock, he almost ran back to the ward.
Two nurses were just a step ahead of him.
Seeing the nurses' expressions, Song Yimo stiffened for a moment, then lowered her head to tidy up the test papers she was working on before anyone noticed.
An older nurse saw her and laughed, "You're still working on a test paper at this hour. If my son were this obedient, I'd wake up laughing from dreaming."
Miao Jun modestly replied, "Boys will be boys, they just haven't focused yet. When they start working hard, they make progress quickly."
"That would be good." The nurse put things away and asked, "Are you Song Yimo?"
Song Yimo nodded, "Yes, I am."
"I am Lu Yan, the head nurse of the sixth floor. You'll be dealing with me for the next few days." Lu Yan smiled, "I'll be at the nurse's station, come find me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Song Yimo's obedient demeanor stirred Lu Yan's maternal instincts, and she rolled up Song Yimo's sleeve, saying, "I'll be gentle, don't worry, it won't hurt."
Song Yimo watched her movements and softly thanked her.
Zhai Muyang took off his shoes and got into bed, holding Song Yimo from behind and letting her lean against him.
This solid and reliable support caused Song Yimo's tense body to relax slightly, and unconsciously, she leaned back even more.
Lu Yan glanced at the two and continued talking to Song Yimo with a smile. She could tell that the child was a little afraid.
"Is he your brother?"
Song Yimo nodded, "He is my brother."
Another nurse's assistant, Xiao Shi, looked enviously at Song Yimo, "It's so nice to have a brother. I always wanted one when I was young, but I only have a sister, who always competes with me. I used to dislike her when I was little."
Lu Yan smiled, "Growing up together with someone is also good."
"That's true. We used to fight a lot when we were young, but we don't anymore. Now she calls me often." As Lu Yan started to administer the injection, Xiao Shi fell silent.
Song Yimo turned her head away.
Zhai Muyang pressed her head against his chest, covering her eyes with his hand.
Miao Jun softened his gaze as he watched him do this.
Lu Yan, who had worked her way up from nurse to head nurse, was proficient in her techniques, from tying the tourniquet to drawing blood.
Zhai Muyang took over, applying pressure to the cotton swab, and comforted Song Yimo, "It's done, it doesn't hurt anymore."
No, the pain was only just beginning. Song Yimo seemed to feel the liquid medicine coursing through her body, causing sharp pain wherever it traveled.
