Chapter 80: Another Face-Slap
On the way back to the hospital, they passed by a bank. Song Yimo craned her neck to take a look.
"It doesn't seem too crowded. Brother, I still need to withdraw some money. It'll be the Lunar New Year soon, so it's convenient to have some cash on hand."
Zhai Muyang turned the car towards the bank with a flick of the signal.
Between two months of manuscript fees and rewards, the money in her account book was quite substantial.
The bank clerk glanced at Song Yimo's collagen-filled face and then at the numbers on the slip, a hint of surprise flashing in their eyes.
Zhai Muyang noticed it keenly, his brows furrowing protectively as he wrapped his arm around Song Yimo's shoulder, "Is there something wrong here?"
The clerk shook their head, tapped away on the computer, and then handed out a stack of money, counting out five thousand.
Back in the car, Song Yimo counted two thousand and gave it back to her brother, without saying a word, Zhai Muyang took it and placed it in his bag.
"Is the rest enough for the New Year?"
"It's enough. I may not even have a chance to spend the money." As long as Grandma was around, she had no need to worry about festivals or celebrations, "Just in case."
When they returned to the hospital, it was almost time.
Apart from the coat Zhai Muyang was wearing, all the bags were stashed in the trunk, even the gift for Miao Jun was not taken out by Song Yimo in a rush.
"You go back to the ward and greet Uncle Miao. I'll go to the nurse's station and borrow the microwave to heat up the food."
Song Yimo had no objections.
The nurse station was currently the quietest place. Seeing Zhai Muyang walking straight towards them, several nurses instinctively put on their best smiles.
"Hello, I'd like to borrow the microwave."
"Of course, what would you like to heat up? Let me help you."
Zhai Muyang politely refused, "No need to trouble yourselves, I can handle it."
Feeling a bit disappointed that they couldn't offer any assistance, the nurses hesitated to make a move. By the time they gathered their courage, the food was already heated.
Zhai Muyang smiled politely to the nurses and left with the food.
He wasn't completely oblivious to the nurses' thoughts, but unfortunately, he was too polite to act otherwise.
Miao Jun had already washed the chopsticks and frowned when he saw Zhai Muyang enter, "Why so much food?"
"Just that the boxes are big, the portions aren't much." Song Yimo came over to help set the table, "Miao Dad, you can finish it."
Once everything was set, Miao Jun didn't say anything else.
The dishes in the box resembled something he had eaten during his business trip to Guangdong, small portions but very refined.
"Alright, you don't have to keep me company. Yimo, go take a nap."
"Okay." Song Yimo was indeed feeling a bit tired. She took off her clothes and shoes in the ward and fell asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow.
Following her in, Zhai Muyang couldn't help but remember the first night they came to the hospital. Even now, it felt heart-wrenching to recall.
He covered her with the blanket, drew the curtains, and then quietly left the room.
