Robert Mackey

I sat in the cafeteria of the prison that has been my home for the past two decades, cigarette between my fingers as I waited for my daily mail, waiting for a specific person's letter to finally make its way to my hands. Not too long ago, I had found out that my waste of a "daughter" was apparently doing well in life, settling down with some famous ghost hunter and appearing on his TV show.

The laughter that left my throat when I heard the irony of her ending up fucking a ghost hunter. He must have low standards, especially if his career is focused on "finding ghosts."

What a man to bring home to daddy.

I had nothing else left to lose, and I needed something to look forward to, so I was planning to get out of this Hell Hole and kill her, making her leave this fucking planet once and for all. She didn't deserve this apparent success, and I didn't care if I was going to die trying, but it was my goal. She didn't deserve happiness or a "good life". I didn't allow that when she was a little waste of cells, and I certainly won't allow it now that I know she's allegedly "thriving."

Over the years, I befriended a guy who was serving time for a conspiracy to commit murder, and his sentence was up six months ago, and he promised me that he would send me a letter explaining what he found about where my waste of air daughter is residing.

Surely, she wouldn't be hard to find considering she's dating a ghost hunter.

I'm still laughing about that. Maybe I can use it to my advantage...

When visiting hours opened, I smiled eagerly as my befriended inmate entered the area, only he and I sitting next to each other at the table as nobody else really visits any of us because let's face it, we're all fucking evil.

"I hope for your sake you came with good news."

"I told you I would," he huffed. "here's what I've got."

He opened his pocket notebook and showed me the numerous random words that he knew wouldn't raise suspicion before he whispered, "She's on the show called Ghost Adventures. She lives in Las Vegas and her boyfriend is Zak Bagans. They're always together. He has a museum in downtown Vegas."

"Is this Zak guy the ghost hunter?"

"Yes."

"Interesting. Once I'm out of here, I'm going to pay a visit to that museum of his."

"You'll be caught easily, man."

"I'm just going to kill her, I don't need a fucking week. I just need enough time to get there and do what I need to do. I don't have anything else to lose."

"Once you get out, you need to cross the state line quick. I can get you to Vegas by taking the long way, avoiding LA and going down through Tonopah. The guy I've been in touch with here on the inside is working graveyards tonight. He won't be around when the gate is unlocked if you catch my drift."

"What time?"

"Your favorite time," he smirked. "Three a.m. I'll be waiting in a car a quarter mile southeast from the back gate. My guy on the inside will be working to fix the power outage that'll magically disable the security cameras."

"Are you sure this'll work?"

"If I wasn't sure, I wouldn't have told you. Don't worry about anything until we get to Vegas, then you can have your fun. Do you think she'll recognize you?"

I chuckled, "No. She's too stupid to recognize me. I bet I can talk to her face-to-face without her recognizing me."

"Probably. I'll have some cash waiting for you in the car. This should be a piece of cake."

"It will be."

"Think we'll have a problem with her ghost hunter boyfriend?" I asked with a laugh of disbelief.

"Maybe, by the pictures I've seen, he looks pretty jacked."

"Eh, not worried about that," I shrugged. "I'll see you tonight."

"Sounds good. This'll work, no doubt."

Once my favorite time arrived, I was escorted by my buddy's guy on the inside, a pathetic little officer who had no business being an officer at all. He was too submissive, and it was sad to say that my own pathetic daughter was more dominant than him, and that was a lot coming from me because she deserved no recognition.

"You're going to have to make it quick. The camera systems are coming back up in less than ten minutes," he sighed. "That's the only way they'll believe that they went down with the power."

"I'll make it quick. If I find out you ratted, I will kill you when I get back." I threatened him, pleased that he cowered at my words like a scared little puppy.

"Understood."

I ran in the direction my buddy told me he would be, seeing the faint tail lights of his car before I jumped into the passenger seat. "That was too easy."

"It was. Pays to have a guy on the inside."

"Agreed. How long to Vegas?"

"Right at ten hours. We gotta go east across the Sierra Nevada's to avoid LA. It'll take us down through Tonopah. Are you wanting to go straight to this guy's museum or want to stake her out first?"

"I'll start there. Who knows if she's still in town or not for that stupid show."

"Good point. We'll go and stake it out. We won't have much time before the FBI puts out my escape all over the fucking place."

"Nevada is full of hiding spots. I say we'll be good for a while."

"One way to find out."
