My world was completely upside down. Things were going so great, and in the blink of an eye, it all changed. The last thing I remembered was taking Arson out for a morning ride, and that was two weeks ago. The time between then and now was a complete and untouched black hole of memory loss.

Now, my two horses were being taken care of by Hollie, which I was insanely grateful for, but I wanted to go back to my normal life as soon as I possibly could. I was tired of bed rest, tired of someone tending to me, and tired of being forced to stop what I love for the sake of "healing right."

I thought it was bullshit. Mainly because I couldn't heal right by doing absolutely nothing, but this was the first time I've ever had a brain injury, so I guess I shouldn't be so stubborn considering the fact that I could've been easily killed or in a coma for longer than I apparently was.

"Zak?" I asked, looking over to him as he drove towards his mother's house, his jaw clenching every time he chewed on his gum, his left hand relaxed on the wheel and his other drawing gentle circles on my knee.

"Hm?"

"Where's my phone? I want to call Hollie and ask how the horses are."

"It's in my bag, but it could be dead," He answered, taking his phone out of the console and handing it to me. "You can call her from mine. I haven't saved her number, but it's the first one in my most recent texts."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, sweetie."

"Um... wh-what's the password to it?"

I noticed his slight frown, but he didn't hesitate to answer me. "0414."

A brief silence fell between us as I struggled to understand the significance of his passcode, and I could tell he was purposely giving me time to think about it, but I think it bothered him that I didn't remember. I don't think it bothered him in a bad way, though, more like a way that he was still in disbelief that I lost a good portion of my memory. "It's the month and year we got together."

"Oh, that's right. In April when I came to you for your birthday?" I recalled after another brief silence that fell between us.

"The best birthday ever." He chuckled, keeping his attention on the road as I tapped on Hollie's contact number, eager to hear her voice and catch up for a brief moment.

"Hey, Zak! I'm glad you called, because I have some good news!" She answered happily.

"Actually, it's Tori," I giggled. "I'm out of the hospital as of today-"

"Oh, my God! Tori! How are you feeling? I'm so glad to hear from you!

"I have a lot to catch up on, but I'm grateful that I'm able to go home. How are you? Thank you for taking care of my horses while I was in the hospital."
