The crisp air inside the dome carried the faint scent of earth and wood smoke as the sanctuary buzzed with activity. The frost beyond the dome was creeping ever closer, its icy grip consuming what little remained of the outside world. Inside, the community was focused on fortifying their home against the coming months.
Harry stood in the Great Hall, leaning over a table covered with maps, lists, and sketches. Around him, the core team gathered, each ready to tackle their respective responsibilities.
"We've done a lot," Harry began, his tone steady but firm. "But winter is here, and it's going to test everything we've built. We need to ensure the dome is ready."
Dividing the Tasks
Harry pointed to a section of the map. "Percy, how are we looking on the rationing plan?"
Percy adjusted his glasses, glancing at his clipboard. "We're in good shape for now, but the new arrivals have pushed us closer to our limits. If we don't expand food production soon, we'll need to implement stricter rationing."
Neville, standing beside Percy, nodded. "I've already started adding extra plots in the greenhouses, and the rooftop gardens are yielding more than expected. But I'll need more hands to keep everything running."
"I'll assign volunteers," Harry said. "Fred and George can help organize shifts—they've already got the marketplace running smoothly."
Fred grinned from across the room. "Always happy to whip people into shape."
George smirked. "And by whip, we mean inspire. Gently."
Draco cleared his throat. "Housing is stable for now, but if the dome expands again, we'll need to be ready to build immediately. I've got Grintok's team on standby, but the materials are dwindling."
"I'll organize a supply run beyond the dome," Harry said. "We've done it before, and we'll do it again. But this time, we'll take a larger team."
Luna raised her hand slightly, her dreamy tone cutting through the seriousness. "The creatures are restless. They can feel the frost pressing in. We'll need to check the habitats daily."
"I'll help with that," Neville offered.
Addressing Security
As the discussion continued, the topic turned to security. Percy tapped his quill against his clipboard. "We need to patrol the dome's edge more frequently. If the frost breaches, even for a moment, it could endanger everything."
Draco nodded. "I've been training a security team. They're not Aurors, but they're competent. We'll expand the patrol schedule."
"And the gatehouse?" Harry asked.
Michael, who had been quietly observing, spoke up. "It's been busier than ever. We've had more arrivals in the last month than in the previous three combined. If the frost starts overtaking smaller shelters, we'll see even more."
"Then we'll need a second intake point," Harry said. "We can't let the gatehouse get overwhelmed."
A Call to Action
As the meeting wrapped up, Harry stood, looking at each member of his team. "We've built something incredible here," he said, his voice steady. "But the frost is relentless. This winter will test us like never before. We have to be ready—for ourselves and for the people counting on us."
The room was quiet for a moment, the weight of Harry's words settling over them. Then, one by one, they nodded.
"We'll get through this," Percy said firmly.
"Together," Luna added, her voice soft but resolute.
Late-Night Preparations
That evening, as the sanctuary settled into its nightly rhythm, Harry found himself at the edge of the dome, staring out at the frozen wasteland beyond. The frost shimmered under the moonlight, an unyielding force that seemed to press against the dome's magical barrier.
"You look like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders," a voice said behind him.
Harry turned to see Ginny, her red hair catching the glow of the dome's light.
"Maybe because I do," Harry said with a faint smile.
Ginny stepped closer, crossing her arms. "You're not in this alone, you know. We're all here because of you. And we're not going to let the frost win."
Her words settled something in Harry. He turned back to the dome, his resolve strengthening.
"We've come too far to fail now," he said. "The frost doesn't stand a chance."
A Silent Promise
As the dome shimmered in the cold night air, Harry felt the weight of his responsibilities, but also the strength of the community they had built. Winter was here, and it would be the sanctuary's greatest challenge yet.
But they were ready.
And as long as the dome held, they would endure.
