The morning sun cast a golden glow over the sanctuary as word of the dome's latest expansions spread. Harry, Neville, Luna, and Draco had spent hours exploring the tower and its lookout zone, marveling at its purpose and potential. But their curiosity soon turned to the other new structures—the factories, warehouses, and the mysterious desert zone.
"Let's see what else the dome's been up to," Harry said, leading the way toward the 100-acre expansion.
The Factories and Warehouses
The group stopped first at the factories, their towering structures lined with smooth stone walls and high arched windows. A faint hum of magic resonated from within, drawing them closer.
Draco approached the nearest door, his wand at the ready. "Shall we?"
Harry nodded, and they stepped inside.
The air inside the factory was cool and clean, the space divided into distinct sections. Rows of enchanted looms whirred softly, weaving cotton into fabric. Nearby, magical cutting tables worked independently, trimming the fabric into precise shapes for clothing, blankets, and other essentials.
"This is incredible," Neville said, picking up a roll of freshly woven cloth. "The dome's set this up to process everything we've been growing."
"And not just that," Draco said, pointing toward another section of the factory. "Look."
They moved toward an area where crates of enchanted tools were being assembled. Hammers, wrenches, and strange hybrid devices that combined magic and Muggle technology were neatly packed, ready for distribution.
"This could revolutionize how we repair and build things," Neville said, running a hand over one of the devices.
Luna tilted her head, her gaze drifting toward a section of the factory where magical jars were sealing themselves. "The dome's thinking ahead," she said softly. "It knows we'll need these."
The Warehouses
Next, they moved to the warehouses, massive structures with reinforced doors and walls glowing faintly with protective wards.
Inside, the group found rows of shelves filled with crates, barrels, and sacks, all labeled with enchanted tags for easy identification. The storage was meticulously organized:
One section held crates of preserved fruit and vegetables from the orchards and fields.Another contained bags of grain and flour, protected by cooling and anti-pest charms.A specialized area was dedicated to fish and meat, its magical cooling system ensuring the contents remained fresh for months.
"There's enough here to support us—and other sanctuaries—for years," Neville said, his voice filled with awe.
Draco inspected a row of enchanted barrels, his sharp eyes narrowing. "And it's all perfectly preserved. The dome doesn't just react—it plans."
Harry nodded, taking it all in. "This is more than survival. It's sustainability."
The Desert Zone
After leaving the warehouses, the group made their way to the desert zone, drawn by the shimmering heat visible from a distance. The fence and gate separating it from the rest of the sanctuary were sturdy, their posts engraved with runes.
Harry pushed open the gate, and a wave of warmth greeted them.
"It's contained," Draco said, holding a hand near the edge of the gate. "The heat doesn't escape."
They stepped inside, their boots crunching on the sand. The desert stretched out before them, a vast expanse of dunes and rocky outcroppings. Sparse vegetation, including cacti and other hardy plants, dotted the terrain, and small lizards scurried across the warm ground.
"This is... different," Neville said, crouching to inspect a patch of sand. "Why would the dome create a desert?"
"It must serve a purpose," Luna said, her eyes scanning the landscape. "Everything the dome does is deliberate."
Farther into the desert, they found a small, shimmering oasis—a pool of water surrounded by palm trees. The water was warm and clear, its surface glowing faintly with magic.
"It's self-sustaining," Neville said, dipping his hand into the water. "But why would we need this environment?"
Draco pointed to a lizard perched on a rock. "This zone might be for creatures that can't survive in the other parts of the sanctuary. Or maybe..." He trailed off, frowning.
"Maybe what?" Harry asked.
Draco gestured toward the heat shimmering in the distance. "Maybe it's preparation. If the frost continues to spread, the dome could be creating areas that resist it entirely."
Harry considered this, his gaze distant. "That's possible. Or it could be a test—a way to see how we adapt."
Returning to the Tower
By the time they left the desert zone, the group's minds were buzzing with possibilities. They returned to the tower to review what they'd discovered, gathering in one of the newly created classrooms.
"The dome isn't just protecting us anymore," Neville said, pacing. "It's building infrastructure. Preparing for the long term."
"And it's doing it faster than ever," Draco added. "It knows something is coming—something big."
Luna sat quietly, her gaze drifting toward the window. "The desert, the tower, the factories... They're all part of the same message. The dome believes in us, but it's also testing us. We have to be ready."
Harry leaned against the table, his expression thoughtful. "Then we use what we've been given. The dome's done its part—now it's up to us."
As the sun set over the sanctuary, the group stood at the tower's lookout zone, staring out at the distant frost and the shadowy spire rising against the horizon.
The dome's creations were gifts, tools to face the challenges ahead. But they were also reminders of the stakes—of the relentless frost that waited beyond.
The sanctuary was stronger than ever, but the fight was far from over. And whatever the frost had planned, Harry and his team would be ready.
