The news of Sirius and Regulus's return spread quickly throughout the sanctuary. While many saw it as a miracle, Harry couldn't shake the feeling that their reappearance was tied to something larger—something the dome hadn't yet revealed.

The next morning, Harry sat in his office, surrounded by maps and notes about the Winter Path. The vines Neville was studying, the stories Sirius and Regulus had shared, and the frost pressing harder against the dome all pointed to one thing: a deeper mystery.

He needed answers.

A Meeting with the Brothers

Harry made his way back to the hospital, where Sirius and Regulus were resting. Sirius had regained some of his old spirit, while Regulus, though quieter, had a sharpness in his gaze that reminded Harry of his meticulous planning against Voldemort all those years ago.

"Good to see you back on your feet," Harry said as he entered their shared room.

Sirius grinned, stretching his arms. "You can't keep a Black down for long."

Harry smirked, then turned to Regulus. "How are you feeling?"

"Well enough," Regulus replied, his tone reserved but not unfriendly. "I assume you're not just here to check on us."

Harry nodded, pulling up a chair. "I need to know everything you can remember. About the cave, the vines, the forest—anything that might help us understand why the dome brought you back."

Regulus's Perspective

Regulus leaned forward, his hands clasped tightly. "The cave was... strange. It felt alive. The vines weren't just plants—they pulsed with magic, as though they were connected to something deeper in the forest. They didn't harm us, but they didn't let us leave either."

"What do you mean?" Harry asked.

"Every time we tried to leave the forest, we ended up back at the cave," Regulus explained. "It was as if the forest was keeping us there, waiting for something—or someone."

"Until you showed up," Sirius added, his voice softer.

Harry frowned, his mind racing. "The dome doesn't create things randomly. The Winter Path must have a purpose, and you two are part of it. But why?"

A Mystery Deepens

Regulus tilted his head, his sharp eyes meeting Harry's. "Perhaps it's not about us specifically. Maybe the dome is preparing you—for what's outside."

"The frost," Harry murmured. "You think the Winter Path is a way to understand the frost?"

"Or survive it," Regulus said. "The vines... they're tied to the cold, but they don't succumb to it. If Neville can figure out how they work, it could be the key to protecting the sanctuary—and beyond."

Sirius nodded, his expression serious for once. "Whatever the dome's doing, Harry, it's not just about keeping people safe. It's building something bigger."

Returning to the Winter Path

Later that day, Harry gathered a small team to return to the Winter Path. Neville joined him, carrying a satchel of tools and notes from his research on the vines. Luna volunteered as well, her calm demeanor steadying the group.

"Are you sure about this, Harry?" Neville asked as they stood at the gate.

"We need to know what's out there," Harry said firmly. "If the forest has more secrets, we need to uncover them."

The group stepped through the gate, the barrier rippling around them as the cold enveloped them. The vines pulsed faintly along the ground, their glow guiding the way deeper into the forest.

A New Discovery

As they ventured further, Neville stopped abruptly, kneeling to examine a cluster of vines growing around the base of a tree.

"These are different," he said, his voice tinged with excitement. "They're thicker than the ones you brought back, and they're... reacting to the cold."

Luna crouched beside him, her eyes wide with wonder. "They're beautiful. Like they're alive."

"They are," Neville said. "They're drawing magic from the frost, Harry. They're feeding off it."

Harry's heart raced. "Could they be used to create barriers? To protect against the frost?"

"Maybe," Neville said, carefully cutting a sample and placing it in his satchel. "If we can replicate their properties, we might be able to strengthen the dome—or even expand it."

A Flicker of Light

As the group pressed on, they came upon a clearing where the vines grew in a dense, glowing mass. In the center stood a stone archway, its surface etched with runes that pulsed faintly in time with the vines.

Luna stepped closer, her expression thoughtful. "This isn't just a forest," she said softly. "It's a gateway."

Harry's breath caught as he studied the archway. "A gateway to what?"

Neville shook his head. "I don't know. But this magic—it's older than anything I've ever seen."

"We'll need to come back," Harry said, his voice steady. "With more people, more supplies. We need to understand what this is."

Back at the Dome

The group returned to the sanctuary as the sun dipped below the horizon. Neville immediately headed to the greenhouses to begin studying the new vines, while Luna stayed behind to sketch the runes they had seen on the archway.

Harry, however, returned to the hospital, where Sirius and Regulus were waiting.

"What did you find?" Sirius asked.

"More questions," Harry admitted. "But also hope. The vines... they're connected to the frost. If we can understand them, we might be able to turn the frost's magic against itself."

Regulus nodded, his gaze sharp. "Then we'd better figure it out quickly. The frost isn't going to wait."

As Harry left the hospital that night, he felt the weight of the day settle over him. The Winter Path was revealing its secrets piece by piece, but every answer seemed to bring more questions.

The stone archway loomed large in his mind, its glowing runes a mystery that demanded to be solved.

As the dome shimmered in the moonlight, Harry made a silent promise: he would uncover the truth, no matter where it led—or what it cost.
