The morning inside the dome was brisk, the chill from the Winter Path still lingering in Harry's thoughts. Neville was already hard at work analyzing the new vines they had brought back from the forest, and Luna was poring over her sketches of the runes etched into the mysterious stone archway.

Harry, meanwhile, sat at his desk in the Great Hall, the image of the glowing archway dominating his thoughts. If the Winter Path was meant to prepare them for the frost, then the archway might be the key to understanding its purpose.

Gathering the Team

By mid-morning, Harry had assembled a team to return to the archway.

Neville was coming along, his knowledge of the vines crucial to their investigation. Luna had insisted on joining, her keen sense for ancient magic invaluable. Sirius and Regulus, still recovering but eager to contribute, also volunteered to come, arguing that they had a right to understand the forest that had held them captive.

"We'll take it slow," Harry assured them. "We're there to observe and learn, not to take unnecessary risks."

Regulus smirked faintly. "Unnecessary risks? That's new for you."

Sirius chuckled, patting Harry on the back. "We'll be fine, Harry. Let's just hope the forest plays nice this time."

The Journey Back

The group entered the Winter Path cautiously, their breath visible in the frosty air. The vines pulsed faintly along the ground, their glow leading the way like a trail of breadcrumbs.

As they approached the clearing, the archway came into view once more. Its ancient stone frame was partially covered in frost, the glowing runes pulsing faintly in time with the vines.

Luna stepped forward, her expression filled with wonder. "It's even more beautiful than I remembered."

Neville crouched beside the base of the archway, inspecting where the vines intertwined with the stone. "These vines aren't just growing here," he said. "They're feeding the archway with magic."

Sirius ran a hand over the surface of the arch, shivering slightly. "It feels cold, but there's something else... something alive."

Deciphering the Runes

Luna opened her sketchbook, comparing her drawings to the runes on the archway. "These symbols... they're ancient, predating Hogwarts itself. They speak of passage and protection."

"Passage to where?" Harry asked, stepping closer.

"I don't know," Luna admitted. "But it feels like this isn't just a portal. It's a test. It's waiting for something—or someone—to activate it."

Regulus frowned, his sharp gaze fixed on the runes. "If it's a test, it's not one to take lightly. Ancient magic like this always comes with a price."

Sirius smirked. "You sound like a Slytherin."

"I am a Slytherin," Regulus shot back, his tone dry.

A Sudden Reaction

As Neville continued examining the vines, his wand accidentally brushed against one of the glowing runes. The reaction was immediate—the archway flared with light, the runes glowing brightly as a low hum filled the air.

"Harry!" Neville called, stepping back quickly.

The ground beneath the archway shimmered, as if the frost itself was alive, swirling and solidifying into a reflective surface. The air grew colder, the magic within the archway thrumming with intensity.

"What did you do?" Sirius asked, his tone both curious and wary.

"I didn't mean to do anything!" Neville replied, his eyes wide.

Harry stepped forward cautiously, his wand drawn. "It's reacting to us. To our magic."

A Glimpse Beyond

As the group stood before the glowing archway, the reflective surface within began to shift. Images flickered across it—scenes of frozen landscapes, ancient ruins buried beneath ice, and unfamiliar figures moving through the frost.

"It's showing us something," Luna murmured, her gaze transfixed.

Regulus stepped closer, his expression tense. "It's not just showing us—it's warning us. That frost... it's alive."

Harry felt a chill run down his spine as he watched the figures in the frost. They moved with purpose, their forms cloaked in shadow and ice.

"We need to figure out what this means," Harry said firmly, stepping back from the archway. "But we're not going through until we know more."

Returning to the Dome

The group made their way back to the dome, their thoughts heavy with what they had seen. Neville carried another sample of the glowing vines, and Luna's sketchbook was now filled with detailed drawings of the archway's runes and the images they had glimpsed.

Back in the sanctuary, Harry called a meeting with the core team to share what they had discovered.

"The archway is a portal," he explained. "It's connected to the frost, and it's showing us something—maybe the source of the frost itself."

"But why?" Draco asked, his tone sharp. "Why would the dome create a portal to something that dangerous?"

"Because we need to understand it," Luna said calmly. "The frost isn't going to stop, and the dome knows it. This portal might be the only way to find answers."

A Plan for the Future

By the end of the meeting, the team agreed to continue studying the Winter Path and the archway. Neville would focus on the magical properties of the vines, while Luna and Regulus worked on deciphering the runes. Sirius, despite his insistence on being involved, was ordered to rest and recover fully.

As the meeting dispersed, Harry lingered by the window, staring out at the shimmering dome.

The frost was relentless, and now it seemed the dome was urging them to confront it head-on.

Luna approached quietly, her voice soft. "The dome believes in us, Harry. It wouldn't show us the way if we weren't ready."

Harry nodded, her words settling deep within him. "Then we'll be ready," he said.

As the dome glowed faintly in the moonlight, Harry's resolve hardened. The archway was a mystery, but it was also a challenge.

And Harry Potter never backed down from a challenge.
