The sanctuary was alive with activity the morning after the dome's latest expansion. Word had spread quickly about the new land, and groups of volunteers were already gathering to organize the houses, fields, and other resources.
Harry stood near the edge of the new orchard, watching as Neville directed a team to inspect the trees. The rows of apple, lemon, lime, and orange trees were vibrant and full of promise, their leaves shimmering faintly with the dome's magic.
"This will be a game-changer," Neville said as Harry approached. "We've been relying so much on what we can grow in the greenhouses. These trees give us stability—and variety."
Harry nodded. "And the cotton fields?"
"They're perfect," Neville said, gesturing toward the white tufts visible in the distance. "We'll need to figure out processing, but this gives us a sustainable way to make clothes, blankets, and anything else fabric-based."
Harry smiled faintly, a rare flicker of relief crossing his face. "Good. Let's keep moving."
Organizing the Vineyard and Fields
At the vineyard, Luna stood with a group of Muggle-born witches and wizards, carefully inspecting the rows of grapevines.
"These are beautiful," Luna said softly, running her fingers along the leaves. "The dome's magic has made them resilient. They'll grow even if the frost comes closer."
Fred and George wandered over, their eyes lighting up at the sight of the vineyard.
"Wine," Fred said, grinning.
"Juice," George added, nodding sagely.
"Both," Luna said with a smile, not missing a beat.
Farther down the path, the vine fields were bustling with activity. Teams were setting up irrigation systems and marking rows for future harvests. The pumpkins, watermelons, and gourds had already begun to sprout, their green vines stretching across the fertile soil.
"This is going to be incredible for trade," Percy said as he joined Harry. "We've already had requests from some of the other sanctuaries for fresh produce. This gives us the ability to barter and build stronger alliances."
"Let's make sure we prioritize our own people first," Harry said firmly. "But yes, alliances are important. We'll need all the help we can get."
The Mirror's First Capture
As the day went on, Harry made his way to the capturing mirror near the Winter Path. A small group had gathered around it, curious about its purpose and abilities.
Draco stood near the device, his arms crossed as he observed its glowing surface.
"It's recording," Draco said as Harry approached. "The forest, the archway... everything is visible in real-time."
Harry watched as the mirror flickered, showing an image of the glowing archway. The runes on the stone pulsed faintly, their light synchronized with the shimmering vines that surrounded them.
"What are we seeing?" Harry asked.
"Not much yet," Draco admitted. "But if something changes—if the archway activates or the forest shifts—we'll know immediately."
Luna appeared beside them, her gaze fixed on the mirror. "It's like the dome is teaching us to watch carefully. To learn before we act."
Harry nodded, her words resonating. "That's exactly what we'll do."
A Community in Motion
By evening, the new houses and townhouses were being prepared for new arrivals. Draco had assigned teams to clean and furnish each home, ensuring they were ready for anyone who stepped through the dome's protective barrier.
In the marketplace, plans for using the new crops were already underway. Bakers discussed recipes for pumpkin pies and watermelon salads, while seamstresses and tailors examined samples of the cotton, brainstorming ways to process it into usable fabric.
"It's amazing," Neville said as he joined Harry near the Great Hall. "The dome gives us these gifts, and everyone comes together to make the most of them."
"That's what makes this place work," Harry replied. "Everyone contributes. Everyone matters."
A Late-Night Discussion
As the sanctuary quieted for the night, Harry found himself sitting with Luna and Neville near the Great Hall's entrance. The three of them sipped tea, their conversation focused on the dome's recent expansions.
"The dome isn't just reacting to our needs," Neville said. "It's planning ahead. It's giving us what we'll need before we even realize it."
Luna nodded, her gaze distant. "It knows what's coming, even if we don't. The orchard, the fields, the mirror... they're all pieces of a larger puzzle."
Harry sighed, setting his cup down. "The frost is still out there, and it's not stopping. We need to stay ahead of it. We need to be ready for whatever's next."
Luna smiled faintly. "We will be, Harry. The dome believes in us. And so do the people."
As the stars twinkled above the sanctuary and the dome shimmered in the moonlight, Harry felt a renewed sense of purpose.
The sanctuary was thriving, but the real test was still ahead. And together, they would face it—no matter what.
