The night was quiet within the sanctuary, the hum of the dome steady and soothing as its golden light shimmered against the frost-blanketed world outside. Beneath the surface, the dome's magic was working, responding to the growing needs of its inhabitants.
By dawn, the dome had expanded once again, adding six new acres to its protected land. Three acres were filled with greenhouses, each calibrated to different temperatures and filled with both familiar and exotic plants—some magical, others non-magical. The other three acres transformed into fertile farmland, with neatly plowed rows of soil and tiny sprouts already emerging, shimmering faintly with a magical glow.
The residents of the sanctuary were still asleep, unaware of the incredible transformation taking place.
Neville's Discovery
The morning sunlight streamed through the windows of the greenhouses as Neville made his daily rounds, checking the crops and ensuring everything was in order. As he reached the edge of the existing greenhouses, he stopped abruptly, his eyes widening in disbelief.
In the distance, a cluster of new greenhouses stood, their glass glinting in the sunlight. Beyond them, rows of farmland stretched out, the soil rich and dark, the tiny sprouts promising an abundant future.
Neville blinked, then rubbed his eyes, convinced he was imagining it. But as he stepped closer, the reality of what he was seeing became clear.
"The dome..." he whispered, a grin spreading across his face. "It... it did this!"
Unable to contain his excitement, Neville let out a loud whoop, startling a nearby group of workers. "Harry! Someone get Harry! You have to see this!"
Harry Arrives
Harry arrived a short while later, still buttoning his coat against the morning chill. He found Neville standing near the edge of the new farmland, practically vibrating with excitement.
"What is it, Neville?" Harry asked, his brow furrowed.
Neville turned to him, his grin almost splitting his face. "Look!" he exclaimed, gesturing toward the new land. "It's incredible! The dome... it expanded again. And look what it gave us!"
Harry followed Neville's gaze, his eyes widening as he took in the sight. The greenhouses were pristine, their glass sparkling in the sunlight. Inside, Harry could see plants he didn't recognize—some glowing faintly, others shifting colors as if alive.
And then there was the farmland, the rows of crops already sprouting despite the frost outside the dome.
Harry took a deep breath, the sight filling him with both awe and relief. "It's... amazing," he said softly. "The dome isn't just responding—it's anticipating what we need."
Exploring the New Greenhouses
Neville and Harry stepped into the nearest greenhouse, the warm air inside a stark contrast to the chill outside. Neville immediately began inspecting the plants, his excitement bubbling over.
"Harry, look at this!" Neville said, crouching beside a plant with bright red leaves that shimmered faintly. "This is Fireleaf. It's incredibly rare, and it thrives in warm temperatures. The dome must've calibrated the temperature specifically for it."
Harry nodded, his gaze sweeping over the rows of plants. "And this one?" he asked, pointing to a small, glowing blue flower.
Neville's eyes widened. "That's Moonpetal! It's used in advanced healing potions. I've never seen one outside of textbooks."
They moved through the greenhouses, marveling at the variety of plants. Each greenhouse seemed to have its own climate—one warm and humid, another cool and crisp, and a third that was almost tropical.
"The dome didn't just copy our greenhouses," Neville said, shaking his head in disbelief. "It improved them. These plants... they're exactly what we need to sustain the sanctuary long-term."
Inspecting the Farmland
After leaving the greenhouses, Neville and Harry made their way to the farmland.
The soil was dark and rich, and the rows of crops were perfectly aligned. Tiny sprouts poked through the earth, their leaves shimmering faintly with a magical glow.
Neville crouched down, running his fingers through the soil. "It's enchanted," he said. "The dome must've used magic to prepare the land. This soil is ideal for growing just about anything."
Harry knelt beside him, studying the tiny sprouts. "These crops... they're already growing. It's like the dome accelerated the process."
Neville nodded. "It's giving us a head start. Harry, this changes everything. With this much farmland, we can grow enough food to support everyone—even if the dome stops expanding."
Sharing the News
As the morning progressed, word of the dome's latest expansion spread quickly. Residents gathered near the new farmland, their faces alight with hope and excitement.
"This is incredible," Luna said softly, standing beside Harry and Neville. "The dome is alive. It knows what we need."
Fred and George appeared, both grinning.
"Farmland and fancy greenhouses," Fred said, crossing his arms. "The dome's pulling out all the stops."
George nodded. "If it starts handing out free butterbeer, we'll know it's reading our minds."
Their humor drew laughter from the crowd, easing the tension that had been building over the past weeks.
A Renewed Sense of Purpose
That evening, Harry stood at the edge of the new farmland, watching as Neville and a group of volunteers began planting additional crops. The sight filled him with a rare sense of peace.
The dome had given them more than just space—it had given them hope.
As Luna joined him, her gaze distant but serene, Harry spoke softly. "It feels like the dome is guiding us. Like it knows what we need before we do."
Luna nodded. "It's alive, in its own way. And it believes in us."
Harry glanced at her, a small smile tugging at his lips. "You always know what to say, don't you?"
She shrugged lightly. "I just see things differently."
As the dome shimmered under the setting sun, Harry felt a renewed determination. The frost was still out there, but inside the dome, life was flourishing.
And they would continue to fight for every acre, every crop, and every life.
