The morning dawned crisp and clear within the dome, its protective shimmer casting rainbows across the horizon. Harry stood outside the gate to the Frozen Path, bundled in layers of enchanted gear. Behind him, the chosen team—Luna, Neville, Draco, Fred, and George—finished their preparations.
The tension in the air was palpable. This expedition was unlike the others; they were venturing deeper into the Black Tower, determined to uncover its secrets and gather whatever resources they could find.
Harry turned to face them, his expression serious but steady. "We're prepared for this. Stick together, stay alert, and remember: if anything feels wrong, we fall back. The tower isn't just dangerous—it's unpredictable."
Draco smirked faintly. "Thanks for the reminder. As if the frost creatures and shadow goblins weren't enough to keep us on edge."
Luna smiled serenely. "The tower is alive. It tests us, but it also reveals things we need. We just have to listen."
Fred and George exchanged a glance, grinning. "And if listening doesn't work, we blow something up," Fred quipped, patting a pouch of enchanted traps.
Entering the Tower
The Frozen Path was eerily quiet as the group walked through the gate. Frost crunched beneath their boots, and the cold air seemed to hold its breath.
When they stepped through the archway into the Black Tower, the shift in atmosphere was immediate. The air felt heavy, almost oppressive, and the faint hum of magic reverberated through the stone walls.
"This place never gets less creepy," George muttered, his wand held at the ready.
"Keep your focus," Neville said, scanning the corridor ahead. "We need to find the deeper levels."
The First Challenge
The team descended into a cavernous chamber, its walls lined with jagged, glowing crystals. Shadow goblins skittered along the edges, their beady eyes gleaming in the dim light.
"They're watching us," Draco said quietly, his wand aimed at the nearest cluster of goblins.
"They always are," Luna replied. "They're curious, not aggressive. Not yet."
As the group moved cautiously forward, the goblins began to converge, their movements swift and erratic. Fred tossed a small enchanted sphere onto the ground, and it exploded in a burst of light, scattering the creatures.
"That should keep them back for now," Fred said, dusting off his hands.
Neville knelt beside one of the fallen goblins, carefully extracting a vial of its blood. "We'll need this for testing later. Who knows what kind of magic runs through them?"
Discovering a New Room
Deeper into the tower, the group stumbled upon a large, circular room. The air was cooler here, and the floor was covered in a thin layer of frost.
At the center of the room stood a pedestal, upon which rested a single, glowing crystal. It was unlike anything they had seen before—a pale, opalescent shard that pulsed faintly with a rhythmic light.
"What is it?" Neville asked, his breath visible in the cold air.
Harry stepped forward cautiously. "I'm not sure, but it feels... alive."
Luna tilted her head, her expression thoughtful. "It's like the tower itself has given us a heart. A piece of its core."
Draco waved his wand over the crystal, casting diagnostic spells. "The magic in this is ancient—and powerful. It's tied to the frost somehow."
Harry nodded. "We're taking it back. If this is connected to the frost, we need to understand it."
An Ambush
As Harry carefully removed the crystal from the pedestal, the room began to tremble. The frost thickened, and shadowy figures emerged from the walls—larger and more humanoid than the goblins.
"Figures we wouldn't get out of here that easily," Fred said, pulling a small enchanted bomb from his pouch.
The creatures lunged, their shadowy limbs crackling with icy magic. The team moved into action, casting defensive and offensive spells in rapid succession.
Neville used a Frostveil Shard to summon a barrier of ice, blocking one of the creatures.Luna enchanted her Heartstone amulet, sending waves of calming energy through the group and keeping their focus sharp.Fred and George unleashed a series of explosive traps, scattering the creatures and giving the team room to maneuver.Draco used Shadowsteel-enhanced spells to deflect the creatures' icy attacks, while Harry led the charge, his wand blazing with golden light.
The battle was fierce, but the team's coordination and preparation paid off. The shadowy creatures dissolved into mist, retreating into the walls.
Returning to the Dome
Bruised but victorious, the group retraced their steps, their prize safely stored in Harry's enchanted backpack.
When they emerged from the Frozen Path and into the sanctuary, the warmth of the dome was a welcome relief.
"That was intense," Neville said, slumping onto a nearby bench.
"And productive," Luna added, her gaze lingering on Harry's bag. "That crystal could be the key to everything."
Harry nodded, his mind already racing with possibilities. "Let's get it to Nigrum Anima and start testing. Whatever this is, it's important—and we're going to find out why."
The Black Tower had given them another piece of the puzzle, but its secrets were far from unraveled.
As Harry and his team prepared to study their new discovery, the frost loomed ever closer, and the tower's challenges grew more dangerous by the day.
