(Tamara's POV)
Before I knew it was Monday morning Lucy and Tim was coming to get me at 5pm just after dinner I ran up to Sarah's room to see her crying "Sarah what's wrong?"I asked as I sat next to her "I've just got so used to you being here with me it's going to be hard to let you go"she said as she let a few more tears roll "oh sarah"I said pulling her into a hug "I'm sorry you probably think I'm overreacting"she said as she wiped her tears "hey I don't think that and you have to remember no matter what when things are hard look at the safety pin necklace and the butterfly and remember what I told you okay"I told her as I rubbed her back "thanks"she said as she wiped more tears of her face and sniffled "I thought you'd left already"she said "no Tim and Lucy aren't coming until 5pm do we have some time left"I told her "and today is shower day so you need a shower"I told her "yea I will I promise it'll feel weird tho I haven't had a shower since like January and now it's November so 10 months"she said ashamed "it's difficult sometimes I understand"I said resting my hand in her shoulder and giving it a soft squeeze "so I guess after today we're probably not going to see each other again"she said sad as she hugged me again "I'm sure we will meet again at some point hopefully soon and then we can catch up and you can hopefully tell me that butterfly helped you"I said "yea I will and when it fades I'll draw another butterfly so it reminds me not to hurt myself"she told me "that's a great idea" I told her
We spent time together then it was tea time I asked the nurse what time it was and she said it was 4:40pm I only had 20 minutes left here me and Sarah ate tea then went to her room we looked at the clock again after spending more time chatting "4:55"the clock read only five minutes left then a few minutes later we heard the nurse knock on the door me and Sarah both started crying and we hugged again "Tamara Lucy and Tim are here to get you"she said "okay one minute were coming "come on Sarah we can say bye for the last time when I'm actually leaving"I said we both followed the nurse and I saw Lucy and Tim smiling impatiently at the office i ran to them and hugged them then I saw Sarah running to me we both hugged "I'm going to miss you Tamara"she said as she started to cry again "I'm going to miss you too Sarah"I said as I pulled her closer we were both crying now again just like we'd done countless times today imagining what the actual goodbye would feel like a few minutes later Sarah pulled away "I should go back to my room now thank for showing me what a true friend means"Sarah said as she went to turn around I quickly grabbed her and whispered in her ear "always remember the promise you made butterfly"I said then I pulled away and smiled at her before we both waved goodbye and I left with Lucy and Tim we got in the car and started to drive home I was still crying in the back "tam baby what's wrong?"Lucy asked me "just sad"I said "you want to talk about it"Lucy asked "when we're home I will"I told Lucy we drive home and got cuddled up on the sofa "so what did you wanna tell us?"Tim asked "earlier the girl I hugged before we left Sarah do you think she's nice?"I asked
"she seems nice why?"Lucy said "well I met her a week ago at the cafeteria and we got really close and she told me about why she's there and it's really sad and I know it's a lot to ask but I really want her to stay with us"I said as I looked down "why is she there?"Tim asked "she lost her parents when she was 7 and she was in foster care until she was 10 and she started to hurt herself and now she does...stuff so she can stay in the psych ward instead of foster care but I've been helping her and she's doing better now"I told them "we'll think about it kiddo"Tim said "I tell you what you run along to your room and we'll discuss it"Lucy said I ran off and started to colour one of my colouring books.
(Lucy's POV)
Tamara went to her room and me and Tim was discussing it "I mean it doesn't seem like a bad idea"Tim said "I mean Tamara did seem really happy with Sarah"I said we kept discussing it then we agreed that once Sarah was better she could come stay with us "tam come her darling!"I yelled Tamara came running in "kiddo we've decided what to do now"Tim said
"we will have Sarah here after she's better"i said
"yes yes yesss thank you mummy and daddy"Tamara squealed excitedly as she hugged us "as much as i loved being with Sarah I missed you guys a lot" Tamara told us "especially you mummy"Tamara whispered into my ear "keeping secrets now are we?"Tim said chuckling "no daddy"Tamara said giggling id missed that laugh so much "hey tam what do you say we get some takeout for tea"I asked "yess please mummy"Tamara said snuggling into me sad I gave her my phone she was looking at all the different takeout places but she quickly decided on Chinese we ordered then after a while it arrived I dished it up and we all ate "it's so good being able to see you eat and walk again tam"I told Tamara "thanks mummy I'm just glad this food is nice the cafeteria food is very bland"Tamara said as she stuffed her face with more noodles and rice after we finished Tamara's face was covered in rice and sauce "mummy I think I need a bath"Tamara said giggling "I think your right baby I'll grab you a towel"I said I got a towel and face it to Tamara "mummy I know I'm older now but c-can you help me do my hair and body I'm too tired"she said with a pouty face "of course I can tam come on sweetheart"I said as I took Tamara into the bathroom I ran the water then she climbed in I helped her wash her hair and her body then I blow dried her hair and did some braids before she put on her pjs and went to her room "goodnight mummy I love you"Tamara said as she climbed into bed and pulled the covers over herself "goodnight tam love you too"I said as I gave her a kiss goodnight and left her room.
