(Tamara's POV)
The next morning I was resting when the machines started beeping and doctors rushed in one started to put a big tube down my throat I started gagging i pushed him away and flipped myself over and buried my head into Lucy's chest the doctors started to try flip me over so I grabbed tightly onto Lucy's shirt so they couldn't flip me I started to cry again "mum make them stop"I whispered into Lucy's ear as I clung tighter to her shirt and pushed my head down on her chest the doctors kept trying to flip me back over "can you stop!"I shouted "we need to intubate you your lungs will start collapsing if we don't do it now"they said urgently I just moved further up on Lucy and buried my head in her neck "mum please make them stop there touching me too much I don't like it stop them"I begged "baby they have to do it or you could die please baby come on"Lucy said I shook my head no "I don't care there not shoving a tube down my throat" I said as I moved my head again burying it deeper
"Tamara the doctors going to sedate you okay he really needs to do this tube"Lucy said I shook my head no "mum no don't let them do this please"i said gripping onto her top tighter
I felt a pinch on my arm i started to panic as my eyes shut "baby it's okay I'm right here okay"Lucy said reassuringly.
When I woke up I could feel the tube in my throat I started to touch it with my hand it was really uncomfortable "baby calm down it's okay"Lucy said smoothing my hair back and rubbing my cheek with her finger I held her hand and placed it on my chest "u-un-com-for-t-ta-ble"I managed to say "i know baby but it will help you breathe better"Lucy said I nodded I picked up my phone to message mum
The Message:
-when can they take it out?
-not sure but it won't be longer than a week
-it's really uncomfortable I can't sleep with this tube down my throat can you ask when they take it out?
-yea I'll go ask now
Lucy left my room then cane back in "they said they will take it out Wednesday so two days"Lucy said I nodded I sat up and waited for her to get in bed next to me I lay my head back on her chest and forced my eyes closed it took awhile before I finally fell asleep.
Luckily Wednesday came quickly I was lay like usual in the bed I was looking forward to getting the intubation removed I could finally lay comfortably on Lucy's chest like I normally did the doctor came in and checked my vitals
"okay your vitals are really good so we can take out your intubation now it feels weird when I take it out tho so you might throw up" the doctor told me I nodded he carefully removed it then he gave me a wipe I wiped around my mouth "can I have a drink?"I asked my throat was so dry the doctor noises he came back a second later with some cold water i took small sips then placed it on the table the doctor left "mum can I go sleep on you again"I asked "of course baby come on"she said as she climbed in next to me I quickly flipped over onto my stomach and buried my head deep into Lucy's chest "I really missed being this comfy"I told Lucy as I cuddled deeper into her she pulled her arms over me and I felt safe and really comfy I fell asleep.
(Lucy's POV)
Tamara was discharged on Friday it was now Saturday morning I made her a hot chocolate and pancakes with some syrup in a pot I placed it on her bedside table and woke her up she sat up and started eating her food then we got dressed and headed to the station "hey Luce hey tam"Angela said as we entered the office
"hey ange"I said smiling at her "hey we got easy cases today"Angela said passing me one
"thanks"i said flicking through the evidence and getting started on the notes I heard a small whimper and looked over at tam who had a few tears falling from her eyes i put down the case and sat next to her "baby what's wrong?"i asked softly "i feel really tired but can't sleep"she said picking at her skin with her nails.
"Here try sleep now"i said pulling her onto my lap she buried her head into my chest and her eyes slowly shut i continued stroking her hair "she okay?"angela asked "yea she just said she's tired which makes sense because in hospital she had intubation and couldn't move much"I told Angela "that must of been hard for her"Angela said "yea she didn't like it but she slept really good after they removed the tube and that"I said Angela nodded I slowly moved Tamara to the side whilst I grabbed my case I sat back down and leant her against my side I managed to solve it just as lunch came i shook Tamara awake "tam lunchtime baby"I said pushing the hair out her face "I'm still tired can you carry me?"she asked reaching up I just scooped her up and took her outside to the food trucks I set her down on a chair and got some food we ate then went back to shift the rest of the week went the sand then it was Saturday morning I was getting me and tam ready to head to family court where I was going to adopt her
she seemed nervous but really excited and happy we ate food then arrived at the court place we went inside and they asked a few questions then the judge signed the papers and Tamara was officially my daughter we went home and snuggled on the couch "thank you mum for everything"Tamara said as she snuggled deeper into my side "of course baby i love you"I told her she smiled "I love you too mum"she said smiling more I got her tucked in bed like always then I headed to my room and as expected halfway through the night I felt Tamara get in my bed and slip into my arms I pulled my arms over her and fell asleep.
