"I was a big athletic person, back in the day. I played a lot of different sports growing up." Major tells me smiling as he starts to reminisce.
"I'm sure football and basketball but what else?"
"Let's see, there was wrestling, baseball, and soccer back in grade school. Then I ran track and did shot put for a little bit in high school but football and basketball had my heart." My eyes grow big at his long list of sports he partook in. Hell, I barely wanted to do volleyball in high school.
"Oh you were really active."
"Yes ma'am, that's what has helped me stay in shape in my old years. Despite the unhealthy food I had in the pen."
"I can tell, you definitely stayed consistent." I eat a scoop of my ice cream before proceeding to talk. "I try my best to workout as consistent as I can. But some days I really don't feel like dealing with it so I won't."
"Those the times that you have to go."
"I know I know, it's just so much easier to do it when I want to. But I am going to start at least trying to do something light on those days. Maybe take the dog on an extra walk outside."
"There you go, and after you can reward yourself with a small treat for trying."
"That's what got me in the predicament I'm in now." I respond and laugh.
Major and I agreed for this outing that it'd be a great idea to go to a walking trail and eat ice cream. He'd listen to me complain about how hard it's been to get back in the mood to workout like I've been wanting to do. The only activeness I've had has been walking 6ix and running back and forth to make sure all of Sire's needs are being met. Outside of that, I haven't done much. My snacking has increased since I got pregnant but I am at least trying to limit it. Major has been helpful with encouragement and choosing low maintenance activities that doesn't require me to think much about how active it really is. He's really putting in an effort to cater to my wants and needs and my comfort.
"We all have to start somewhere baby girl. The more you do it the more you train your body to get in the habit of doing it. Little by little you'll put yourself in the mood without needing an incentive."
"I can't wait to get to that point, I picked up some happy weight since being in a relationship that I would love to lose." Between eating out more and the late night snacking, I've gained weight. Being pregnant with Sire blew me up more than I expected.
"It'll come soon enough, you just have to be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day."
"I hear you. Maybe I'll take a defense class as a refresher."
" I can teach you some boxing techniques if you want."
"You boxed too?"
"Yeah, but just for fun. It was something I'd always been interested in but never fully pursued." He finishes his ice cream before taking our trash to throw away.
"You just get more interesting the more we talk. There's so much that I don't know about you."
"Anything you want to know just ask, and don't worry about how it'll make me feel. I'll be as open as possible because you deserve answers. We have plenty of time to catch up." I smile and nod my head. He seems so genuine and seems like he's actively trying to make up for lost time without it being forced. So why am I still feeling uneasy?
"Nothing's off the table?"
"Not at all." I chew on my lip trying to find the courage to ask the question I've been wanting to since we met.
