Chapter Twenty Four!
real life.

The evening air was cold, light snow falling around the campus as Paige, Ayanna and Kaitlyn strolled out of the practice facility. Duffel bags slung over their shoulders as the cold air brushed against them as they began walking back towards the dorms. They talked lightly amongst themselves considering the exhaustion and soreness of the practice they had.

As they turned the corner, they briefly ran into a small group of girls who seemed to be walking out of a dorm building. Except, surrounded by her friends was Ana. The girl she used to hookup with.

Immediately, Paige wanted the ground to just open up and swallow her whole. She stayed close to Kaitlyn and Ayanna—who had also noticed Ana—and hoped that Ana wouldn't notice her. But obviously, she did.

As they walked past each other, Ana practically lit up as she saw Paige. "Hey, Paige." She said as she tried talking to Paige. Her friends gave her questioning looks but Ana brushed them off.

Paige merely nodded at her, not wanting to acknowledge her presence and continued walking. Ayanna and Kaitlyn held back laughs, obviously enjoying the sight of Paige practically running away from the girl. Ana on the other hand was persistent about talking to her.

Catching up with Paige, Ana reached out, grabbing ahold of her arm. "Hey. Wait a minute, I wanna talk to you."

Paige moved her arm away from her grip, hating the feeling of someone else's hand on her. She sighed heavily, knowing there was no way out of this. She gave Kaitlyn and Ayanna a look, pleading for them to not leave her alone, but they only smiled and patted her shoulders, walking away. Paige clenched her jaw in annoyance, turning to Ana reluctantly. "What do you want?" Paige said, her voice dismissive and full of annoyance.

Ana smiled, looking up at her. "I just want to check in...I miss you." She said sweetly, clearing trying to persuade Paige.

And Paige quite literally almost gagged.

She pursed her lips, shrugging her shoulders. "Okay." Paige blinked, her expression unbothered.

"Okay..?" Ana repeated, her voice pitching slightly, her confidence unraveling.

Paige shrugged her shoulders, nodding her head. The last thing on her mind these past few months was Ana. If she was being honest, she completely forgot about her up until now. Azalea on the other hand was always on her mind, so she wasn't really worried about Ana. Especially since all they did was hook up. "Mhm." She hummed dryly.

"Wow, okay. That's harsh." Ana muttered, trying to act all hurt and shit.

"What else am I supposed to say? That I miss you too?" Paige bluntly said, her voice in a mocking manner.
