Chapter Thirty Three!
real life.

Azalea walked downstairs, already hating that she was left home alone.

She couldn't lie, a part of her liked the idea of an empty house, but the other part of her was paranoid to every little sound that she heard from any part of the house. Which was kind of hypocritical of her, considering she lived by herself back in Connecticut. Yet, it creeped her out and she practically blasted music from the tv to fill that void of silence in the house.

Paige had already texted her that she'd be coming over, considering it was her last day in New York and she'd be heading to Pennsylvania a day before for her game, to at least get a practice in with the team. Neither of them wanted the day to end, feeling like the days went by faster than they would've wanted. But reality called, bursting their bubble.

Placing her phone on the counter, she placed the flower vase behind which held up her phone as she answered the FaceTime call from Aubrey.

Smiling widely, she watched as Aubrey's face popped up on her phone screen. "Heyyy..." Azalea said, dragging out the 'y' as she grabbed a bowl and spoon before pouring her Fruity Pebbles cereal into her bowl.

"Hey, yourself. What are you doing?" She heard Aubrey's voice as she grabbed a carton of milk from the fridge.

"Distracting myself from the fact that I think I heard something in the living room." Azalea said, jokingly giving Aubrey a scared look, hearing the way Aubrey chuckled at her actions.

"You're just being paranoid. It's probably just the dogs playing around." Aubrey said.

"And what if it's not?" Azalea countered, pouring the milk into her cereal. "What if it's a serial killer who's waiting for me in the living room?" She said, walking back to the refrigerator and placing the milk back inside.

"I think you're just watching too much crime documentaries." Aubrey muttered, walking out of her room with a bag slung over her shoulder.

Azalea ignored her, sitting down on the barstool before she took a bite of her cereal. Once she finished chewing, she said. "Or worse. What if it's a ghost waiting to come and possess me?" She said, once again, dramatically making her eyes wide in fear.

"You just called it out to the universe, so I'd get some holy water on stand by." Aubrey said, raising her eyebrows at Azalea.

"Don't worry. I think a priest lives by." Azalea mumbled, taking another bite of her cereal.

It was quiet between them for a moment. Azalea continued to eat her breakfast while Aubrey sat in the main room, busying herself by tying her shoes. Until Aubrey's voice broke that silence. "So...are you and whose name shall not be mentioned, back together?" She said, grabbing her other shoe.
