Chapter Thirty Six!
real life.

The Gampel Pavilion stadium was loud, a sold out stadium, filled with excited fans watching the game.

Azalea sat with the Fudd family as well as Bob Bueckers, his wife and Drew, who were visiting for the weekend. Drew sat next to Azalea and on her other side sat Jose. They talked casually, catching up with each other and just watching the girls play.

As the second quarter was close to coming to an end, Azalea wanted to step out for a moment. She could handle loud noises, though she didn't particularly like it, but tonight was relentless. She had turned the volume down on her hearing aids once the cheers, whistles and announcers voice through the speaker got too much, but it wasn't enough.

The vibrations pulsed through her head causing her head to began hurting and even with the low volume, the overwhelming mix of sounds made her ears ache and ring just a little more than usual.

As halftime finally came, Azalea caught Jose's attention. "Hey, I'm gonna step out real quick." She let him know.

Jose nodded his head, though his brows furrowed slightly. "Yeah, okay. Are you good?" He asked, concerned.

Azalea smiled reassuringly, nodding her head. "Yeah, just a little break from the noise. I'll be quick though, don't worry." She said as she stood up from her seat, brushing her hands down her jeans.

Drew looked up once he saw Azalea standing.

He immediately stood up after her.

"Where you going?" He asked, looking up at the taller girl.

Azalea glanced down at him, surprised he was so quick to react. "I'm just stepping out for a second, bud." She said with a small smile. "It's a little too loud in here." She explained briefly, her hand instinctively moving to adjust her hearing aid slightly.

Drew frowned, looking around at the still-roaring stadium, as if just now realizing how intense it was. He turned back to her. "I'll come with you."

Azalea raised an eyebrow. "Drew, you don't have to—"

"I want to, Lee." Drew interrupted, grabbing Azalea's hand and making his way to his dad, now on a mission to go somewhere quiet for Azalea. Standing in front of his dad, he tapped his shoulder. "Dad, me and Azalea are going to get some snacks. Can I go?" He asked.

Bob looked at them, nodding his head without hesitation, knowing that Drew would be perfectly fine as long as Azalea was there. "'Course, just come back before halftime's over."
