Chapter Thirty Four! real life.
By the time they made it to Pennsylvania, Azalea was asleep, per usual. Paige had picked her up way too early for her liking but they did get breakfast along the way. And since they were in an Uber the whole time, Paige was always there to rub her back or soothe her in any way she could.
As they arrived at the hotel that the team was staying in for the weekend, Paige gently woke Azalea up, unbuckling her seatbelt as she lightly shook her shoulder. Once she was awake, Paige handed Azalea her hearing aids and while Azalea put them on, Paige took the opportunity to get out of the Uber and grab their bags.
Azalea stepped out of the car, still groggy, but the cold air of Pennsylvania nipped at her skin, helping her reluctantly wake up. She adjusted her hearing aids to her liking, blinking as the sounds of the city came into her ear. As she closed the door of the car, Paige was already by her side, Azalea's bag slung over her shoulder as she held her own bag.
"You okay?" Paige asked softly, her hand naturally resting on the small of her back as she studied Azalea's sleepy expression.
Azalea nodded, offering a small smile. "Yeah...just need a minute to register that I'm actually alive." She muttered, stuffing her hands into her coat.
Paige chuckled, looking at her in amusement as she leaned in a pressed a kiss to her temple. "Well, take your time, gorgeous. We're not in a rush."
The Uber driver helped with the last of Azalea's luggage, and Paige tipped him before gently ushering Azalea toward the entrance of the hotel they'd be staying at for the weekend. As they approached the reception desk, Azalea leaned into Paige, not really paying attention to Paige who was checking in and was simply tiredly and quite intently staring at the wall behind the desk.
Once Paige was finished with that and had the key to their room, Azalea grabbed her suitcase and Paige began leading them towards the elevator. Azalea followed Paige into the quiet elevator, her suitcase rolling quietly behind her. She looked at herself in the mirrored wall—her pink bonnet on her head, her eyes looked like she spent twenty hours sleeping, her lips a little puffy as well as her face. She also had lines marked on her cheeks from using her coat as a pillow. Pursing her lips as she rubbed her hands down her face. "I look like a mess." She muttered, leaning her back against the wall.
"You look beautiful." Paige countered, as she pressed the button for their floor.
"I need like five more hours of sleep, Paige." Azalea muttered, closing her eyes as she leaned her head back. "Then I need a shower, coffee, and a big fat breakfast...again."
