Shiro plays a supporting role in this story, even though most of the screen time belongs to him at the start of Season 1. That is because he has no memories of his past self, and the only thing he remembers is that he got a punctured hole. And why he existed in the first place.
His names is based from the colour of his hair which means white. And his adoptive sister was the one who named him, after she rescued Shiro when he was in critical condition.
Combat styles:
In the start of the story. He wasn't that much strong and is only a beginner, however during the standoff with Schicksal's strongest valkyries. He awakened the strength that was buried within him. (Similar to Trails of Cold Steel 1 with the main protagonist Rean Schwarzer.)
During Arc city, he utilized this and developed of getting stronger. However it turned into a curse. Dr. Tesla explained that his soul is split apart. And that the other pair is trying to assimilate him.
It is said his predecessor Gaia also experienced the same situation back then. In which it was the influence of the Terrestrial King, inheriting the blessing called the Twilight demon.
The first one who received this is Kurosaki Kyo during the previous era, the second was Gaia, and third is Shiro. There are no explanations of how Gaia is linked to Kyo, because there are no traces of bloodline detected from him. They had a signature weapon which is the blade of sin... Kyo wielded this weapon when he fought the 13 Flamechasers...
Gaia relied on the divine key he forged which is Thorns, but during his last stand 500 years ago. The curse activated in which he summoned the corroded sword and massacred soldiers and valkyries to prevent them from chasing Otto Apocalypse who was attempting to rescue the fallen maiden. However he nearly lost his life thanks to Honkai corruption, after that he was rescued by Otto and preserved into a Cryogenic sleep to heal him.
Shiro inherited thorns during Season 1, though during Arc. He too has the ability to wield the Blade of Sin, though incomplete, as he could only manifest it's shadow form. Just like Gaia he is slowly succumbing to the curse, despite Tesla's warning. He never listened as his obsession with his goal is the only thing he had in mind.
In which he slowly gained control, and use the curse as a power up in every fight he has gotten himself into... [ Limit Break ]

He swings the weapon and summons an arc slash, which a torrent of flames burst from the blade, burning everything that comes in it's way.
During Limit Break. The colour of his flames changes into crimson, which strengthened his attacks.
