The sound of the crowd buzzes around the island, as the site were surrounded by joy and cheers by the people enjoying the festival.
This made the phoenix woke up being stirred by the sounds of celebration happening around.
She got up and noticed that it was dark. Yet there's light outside lit by traditional lanterns like small fireflies.
Fu Hua got up wondering how she got here and where her caretakers. Sliding the door open. He sees Kyo outside sitting at a porch drinking a delicious sake.
"Had a good sleep?" He glanced back greeting the sleeping beauty as she walked by and paused behind him. "Where are we?"
"We're at a inn provided by village chief residence. After taking down the Honkai beasts. We asked to find a place to stay for the day." He explained.
"But what about my mission-"
"What about it?" He cut her off and tapped the wooden porch motioning her to sit beside him. "Take the chance to enjoy yourself just for tonight."
She couldn't refuse. As she did what he instructed and he poured another cup of sake for her.
When she drunk the liquor, her face brightens surprised how good it is. "It's good."
Kyo smiled hearing that. "Then I guess staying here wasn't a waste then."
He gaze above the sky, stars are out tonight. "It's kind of nostalgic. Just like the time of our field trip back then." Hua saw and remembered their days as students.
"Although we almost got caught by our teachers sneaking out when it's already curfew at that time." Added by Kyo as that almost gave him a heart attack.
"You were confident enough to invite me. Yet you get scared by your own consequences." Hua softly giggled as this made him flinched.
"I only did that, because you seem bored." He explained which Hua blinks and nodded. "Yeah, that's right. I never enjoyed anything from my childhood. All I know is that I studied martial arts and inherited my father's role."
"That's why I am thankful that you took me out that night. I was able to see the aurora."
When the aurora appeared, words spread and the site that they hang out became a experiment. After all, it is a rare phenomenon that an Aurora appeared which shouldn't have.
Kyo gasped with that gratitude. He smiled and pours himself a cup. "Then I'm glad."
He downed the sake and then speak seriously. "Tomorrow... Everything will be back to normal. This is a temporary truce after all."
Sadly reminding them their situation. Hua grabbed the bottle from him which he was startled and pour herself another one.
"Did they tell you?" She asked in which what will happen the day for tomorrow.
"Yeah... I can't stop you though. It is your decision." He replied sadly. To watch over humanity, that was a task given to the phoenix.
"Fenghuang Down will seal your memories so that your mind remains pure and clean. Emptying worldly desires. That is to also maintain your sanity."
He glance to Fu Hua, which he suddenly felt nervous as the phoenix downed the shot in one go. "Hey... Slow down a bit, you know can't handle your alcohol."
"I don't know if you are trying to test my patience Kyo."
This made Kyo dumbfounded, confused as he tilted his head not having any idea what she meant. "Um... What?"
Fu Hua continued to pour more sake to her cup as he started sweating. "So what if we are against each other..."
Then she shoved the cup filled with sake. "I couldn't care less if you are our enemy. That doesn't change the fact that your special to me."
