Mei slowly wakes up thanks to the sound of water droplets dripping down.

The biting coldness started to number her  mind. As she slowly got up rain started to pour.

She slowly moved and observed of what was happening in front of her... There was nothing but chaos "What... Happened?"

The dim flashes of light seemed like puppet strings tugging at the ruined city... "What happened to Nagazora? Where is the World Serpent?"

Yet her only important goal brought her sense back. "Ah...! Kiana-chan... The Helios is in danger!"

And then she started running, even though she doesn't know where to go. Along the way she encountered quantum shadows. "More of them, but now they look different."

Dancing shadows across the path as Mei advanced, her grip firm on the hilt of Raikiri. The air hung thick with the musky odor of damp stone and something far more sinister – the cloying sweetness of decaying flesh. A chorus of guttural clicks and scrapes echoed from the darkness ahead, a prelude to the horrors that lurked within.

One of the Shadows attempted to phase through her defenses, its form momentarily becoming translucent. Mei, anticipating the maneuver, swung her katana in a wide arc, as a counterattack bringing down the otherworldly monster.

The remaining Shadows pressed their attack, their movements unpredictable and disorienting. They seemed to anticipate her strikes, their forms flickering away just before the katana could connect. Mei realized they weren't reacting in a conventional sense, but rather predicting her movements based on the subtle energy fluctuations he emitted.

Focusing her mind, Mei channeled calmed her breathing, then she moved with deliberate precision, his strikes aimed not at their current location, but at where he predicted they would be in the next fraction of a second. The Raikiri met the shifting forms with greater impact, leaving trails of dissipating quantum energy in its wake.

Finally, with a final, desperate surge of power, Mei unleashed a sweeping arc slash. The remaining Shadows recoiled, their forms flickering violently before collapsing in on themselves, leaving behind only the faint shimmer in the air and the lingering scent of ozone. The silence that followed was broken only by the hum of Mei's breathing.

As she advanced forward this didn't give her a chance to catch a breath as more Quantum shadows continued to spawn around. "Give me a break, I don't have time for this."

Frustrated she got into a defensive stance, a loud gunshots erupted from her west as she saw her best friend wielding her twin pistols blasting the honkai beasts.

"Mei-senpai, are you alright?!"

"Kiana-chan?!" startled as Kiana regrouped with her. "What are you doing here? And where is Shiro-kun?"

"No time, we need to deal with them first now!"

With the quantum shadows slowly surrounding them, they prepared for the worst.

The first Shadow lunged towards Kiana, its amorphous form stretching into a grasping tendril of pure absence. Before it could reach her, a streak of pink lightning erupted. Mei moved with blinding speed, Rakiri slicing through the space where the Shadow was forming. The air crackled with displaced energy, and the Shadow recoiled, its form flickering violently as if glitching out of existence.

Kiana didn't hesitate. Twin blasts of  from her pistols, tearing through the distorted air. The quantum projectiles ripped through the shifting forms of two more Shadows, leaving behind brief, shimmering afterimages before they dissipated entirely.
