And I would like to think that you'd stick around
Warnings- crying, comforting, burning cookies
Summary- What happened when you decide to try and bake cookies for your partner?
Every meal Kaveh made for you tasted like the archons had blessed it. He always made sure it was perfect for you. Even when you cooked, he was there standing beside you just guiding. Sometimes, you wanted him to just go away and let you cook. But you couldn't tell him no, not with that bright smile on his face.
But oneday, while he was out at a job, you pulled out the old recipe book your mother had given to you when you'd moved out. It was fillwd to fhe brim with recipes she used to make with you as a kid.
You flicked through scanning the pages as you went. Until you landed on the cookie recipe you remembered so clearly. You remembered sitting on the kitchen counter while she hummed slong to her songs, sneaking bites from batter. But when she caught you, you would both just laugh. But now it was just you. You could do this? Right?
You started to read the instruction list and ran to the pantry to find everything. As soon as everything was laid out on the bench, you pulled up a bowl and poured them all in.
When the batter was done, it was runnier than it was supposed to be. But it would be fine, right? Surely, there wasn't too much difference.
But you were wrong. When they came out of the oven, they were nothing more than flat circles. Modt of them had joined with another and were burned all around. Slowly, you peeled one off and broke a piece to eat. Instantly, you spat it back out.
"Archons! Can't i do anything right." You spoke with tears welling in your eyes.
There wasnt alot you could do to salvage them. You threw out the tray of burned cookies (if you could even call them that) and started to cry more. However, it wasn't long before kaveh got home and ran straight to where he heard your sobs.
"My darling, what happened. What's that smell?"
You held onto him tightly and left a wet patch on his shoulder.
"I tried- i- i tried to make cookies, b-but i burned them." You said through the tears.
You said his face turn jnto a frown. Kaveh slowly ran his fingers under your eyes, making the tears disappear. He rubbed you back softly and whispered only comforting words into your ears "Its alright, you didn't have to cry. Did you want my help?"
"I want to do it by myself."
"Can i just be watching from the side?"
"Fine."
So once again, you set to work. Pouring in the flour, sugar, and other ingredients. This time, they turned out perfectly, and the dough was perfect. Kaveh only had to step in once when you went to put baking powder instead of baking soda.
(Yes, i did research this, i put whichever one was not on the recipe i looked at. Feel free to correct me, tho)
And this time, they turned out perfect! They were the perfect consistency, and they taste absolutely amazing.
"So i guess every time i make dinner, it'll just be cookies." You laughed.
Kaveh smiled at you. "Maybe i will show you a few more things before you're allowed in here yourself."
