Julieta had just finished making a few batches of Arepa de Huevo and placed them on the counter to cool off. She heard Abuela Alma call her and left the kitchen to answer her mother's call. A low cabinet opens and Camilo crawls out of it onto the floor. He stands up and dusted his pants off looking at the cooling food. He thinks of his fox friend, wondering if she had eaten today or even this week. His grandma had been placing more pressure than usual on his fix friend, giving her more tasks around the community than his own family members.
Camilo knows about his friend's family, and their treatment of youngest kid. He had tried to bring the issue up to his sister, Dolores, a few times, but she would only squeak in fear and scurry away from him, leaving more questions than answers. Camilo had looked at the family in disdain when first meeting them, not being able to wrap his head around another family having a Gift.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Camilo wraps up a few Arepas de Huevo, and leaves the kitchen in a hurry in order to not get caught. As he was about to leave the house, he sees Mirabel enter the house. She spots Camilo looking at her and freeze.
"What are you doing," Mirabel hesitantly questions, not knowing if she wanted any answer.
"I'm going to visit Y/n," Camilo answers.
"That's not a good idea right now, Mirabel looks at the ground with a nervous expression.
"Is she okay," Camilo asks with worry in his tone.
"Just a bit tired from the tasks that Abuela gave her," Mirabel answers. "She's taking a break from working in our secret hiding spot."
"It's not fair that Abuela stacks up tasks like that," Camilo sighs. "Y/n has enough going on with her family. I'm gonna bring her some food, since she probably hasn't eaten."
"Good luck with that," Mirabel frowns. "I had tried to talk to her and she was just staring off into space."
"I'll get her to eat," Camilo states, his voice fills with confidence. "There's no way she can resist my charm."
"You're so full of yourself," Mirabel rolls her eyes and steps away from the door. "Go, I'll cover for you."
Camilo smiles at Mirabel as he goes to open the door. He slips out of the house and closes the door softly behind him. Walking a familiar path to the secret spot, Camilo hums a small tune to himself, people and buildings move past him.
Reaching the secret spot, Camilo spots his fox friend, sitting by a tree trunk. Her stare was at a small patch of Alstroemeria, Hydrangea, and Chrysanthemum flowers. Camilo walks over to her and sits next to her.
"Here, eat these," Camilo places the wrapped up Arepas de Huevo on the girl's lap. "I know that things are rough right now, but I believe one day you'll find happiness. It doesn't matter whether or not I'm with you, I know you will be able to be happy and your true self."
