"I heard that Aisha got into UC Santa Cruz. You guys heard anything from Stanford?" Sam asked the couple. Alana and Miguel shook their heads. "nope." Alana says, "we've been checking our emails, like, everyday, but nothing." Miguel said.
Alana felt her breath hitch for a second. Why did she suddenly feel so panicked about getting accepted into College? "Lani, hey." She heard Miguel call out, his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him, "you okay?" he asked, concern in his voice. Alana looked over at their friends, who just looked back at her. Looking back at Miguel, she nodded. "Yeah, just.. My dad's sick.. he's not feeling well." Alana says as she smiled softly.
"All right. Circle up." Daniel said as he walked into the backyard with Johnny. "The Sekai Taikai needs our final roster in three days. And now that we know who's going, it's time for us to name our male and female captains. The captains are not just the leaders of the team. they're the ones that will be fighting in the finals if we can make it that far." Daniel said as Alana and Miguel glance at each other. "plus, they get to fight on live TV. who knows what comes after that? Wheaties boxes, chop-socky films, ZZ Top videos. Sky's the limit." Johnny rambled on.
"you'll all get the glory if we win, but yes, the captains will be in the spotlight. they need to represent the best that Miyagi-Do has to offer. And Sensei Lawrence and I want to assure you that the decision will be completely unbiased." Daniel says, "that's right, in two days, Alana will face Tory for the female captain spot. Robby and Miguel will fight for male captain." Johnny announces as Alana smiled brightly.
"we all know you've fought plenty of times before, but now that we're on the same side, this is still the best way for us to see who's progressed the most." Daniel said, "All right, enough talking. it's time to train. you four, get inside. i'm gonna whip your butts into shape." Johnny said as Alana laughed and walked forward. Tory, Miguel, and Robby following after her.

Johnny had the four teens do his own training, "Big circle. Big circle. Breathe in. Breathe out." Johnny instructed as Daniel walked around the room to see how he was training them.
"Elbow to the face. Punch to the throat. Lift his ass up. And Dump him." Johnny says as they all follow his instructions

"The key to Miyagi-Do is balance. you gotta stay on your feet no matter what life throws at you." Johnny said as he had Miguel stand on the board that's balanced on the pond. Johnny put his empty beer bottle in the pitcher machine making Miguel immediately dodge it.

"Mr. Miyagi fought for America. you're gonna do the same." Johnny said as he put multiple shirts on the dummy's, "foreign kids don't speak english, but they do speak karate."
Miguel kicked the dummy before it was Alana up next, "High kicks, Chambers!" Johnny shouted as Alana took a breath and lifted her leg, "Ais!" she shouted as the dummy fell to the ground.
