~October 2036~

"Eden, I told you, you'll get a phone when you turn 14. We're not having this discussion again." Chan said.

"But I'll be 13 in 2 months! Why not when I turn 13?!" She whined.

"You don't need it. If you were home alone after school, then I'd consider it. But you're not. You don't need to text, and you absolutely don't need social media." Chan said.

Eden threw her head back. "You are so old and boring! Everyone. Literally EVERYONE in my class has a cell phone except me!" She cried.

"Stop it with the attitude. You're this close to getting in trouble." Chan said, gesturing with his fingers.

"I don't CARE!" Eden yelled, stomping off to her room and slamming the door.

Chan waited a couple seconds before following her.

He opened the door calmly. "Be in my room by 9:00 pm. You need to be scolded before bed."

Eden thumped to her bed and angrily flopped down, screaming into her pillow.

9:00 quickly came.

Eden had changed into her pajamas and brushed her teeth, as per the routine when getting scolded before bed.

She opened the door to her parents bedroom, and peaked in. Her dad was sitting on the corner of the bed, watching the time. He looked up and she sighed, pushing herself through the doorway sadly.

She stood in front of him and started to tear up already.

"Look at me." Chan ordered.

Eden looked up shamefully.

"You really had a lot of nerve, talking the way you were. You were very disrespectful, and you very well know better." He began.

Her lip started to quiver.

"I explained to you before that you will not be getting your own phone until you're 14, and you arguing about is going to do you absolutely no good. In fact, if you think that I'm going to buy you a phone when you're talking to me disrespectfully, and slamming doors in my house, you are very wrong."

"But Dad, I'm sorry!" She sniffled as she started to cry.

"You should be sorry. I did not raise you to act rude an unappreciative!" He said in a harsh scolding tone.

She covered her eyes and cried into her hands.

"Look at me!" Chan ordered again.
