47. Screwed Up

Michelle's pov

After the most amazing sleep, I slowly started to open my eyes to see Arizona was no longer laying beside me. when my eyes finally fully focused I saw her sitting at the end of the bed cradling Alexander while she fed him. She didn't notice that I had woken up and was watching her at first. It was such a beautiful sight, one I had actually missed. Arizona was looking down at Alexander with a cute smile on her face, while stroking his fine, blonde hair with her free hand. 

Shell- hey.

Arizona- oh, you're awake. sorry, I know I probably should have woken you up when he woke up, but my boobs were sore and I just didn't want to wake you, especially since you haven't been sleeping well and...

Shell(interrupting)- Robbins, you're rambling. 

Arizona- you wanted to have him for a few days and i've taken over.

Shell- it's okay. 

(Door opening)

Meredith- Shell, what time... Wait, What is she doing here?

Shell- Mer, I asked her to come over.

Meredith- why? I didn't think you wanted to see her.

Arizona- Umm... I'll leave as soon as Alex is finished.

Shell- no, Robbins, it's fine, you don't need to rush off. She helped me last night.

Meredith- I could've helped, you only had to ask. 

Shell- no offence Mer, I'm grateful for everything you have done for me since the crash, but you don't know me like she does. 

Meredith- right, okay... umm, what time is your appointment with Amelia?

Shell- 10. 

Meredith-  I'm heading to the hospital soon, if you want a ride in?

Shell- yeah, that'll be awesome. thanks Mer.

Arizona- I'm going in at 9 if you want to go in a bit later. It's only like 7 now.

Shell- That sounds better. to be honest, I could probably do with having a shower. I just don't feel clean enough washing at the sink. 

Meredith- what about the stairs. You're only just stable on your feet. 

Arizona- I can help her... If you want me to... I, I don't mind. 

Shell- that would be great.

Meredith- just please be careful, okay.

Shell- we will be fine. 

Meredith- okay. I'll come see you as soon as I can after your appointment. 

Shell- Okay, Mer. 

As Meredith left the den Arizona let out an awkward giggle. I sat up and moved beside her and gave Alexander a gentle kiss on his head, before I leant in to kiss Arizona on the cheek. 

Shell- Thank you. 

Once Alexander finished feeding and was burped and changed he drifted back off to sleep. Arizona got herself dressed then helped me go up the stairs to have my shower. I didn't expect the stairs to be as exhausting as they were and I had to keep stopping after a few steps. When we finally got to the top of the stairs I had to stop again, this time i was able to take a seat on a bench which was in the hallway. 

Arizona- you doing okay?

Shell(breathlessly)- yeah. that was just harder than i was expecting.

Arizona- well, not much further to go.
