Chapter 20

20. Her rescue isn't near.

As soon as the words left James' mouth, it made Rayne's heart to go numb.

She never thought that her own father would give her off to pay someone's debt he owned.

" N-No. I don't want to go",Rayne stumbled a little backwards.

"You don't have a say, Rayne. Pack your stuff and be down in 5 minutes", James ordered.

"But- I don't-"

"Maybe some else can pack her stuff . Come on, Rayne." Ron snickered as he ferociusly grabbed her wrist.

"No! Please! " Rayne's constant plea went down the gutter.

Ron's mind was filled with thoughts to which Rayne was far unaware of.

She didn't know what he wanted. Or what was his intention. All she knew was that her fate isn't the best one and her rescue isn't anywhere near.

For one quick second, she thought, How will Alec react? Maybe he wouldn't even bother .

So, despite of her pleas and constant opposition, Ron shoved her into the car.

With tear strained cheeks and red eyes, she made herself ready to meet the worst .

"Tell servants not to utter a single word about this," James ordered.

His ordered were fulfilled by Chasity who so authoritatively made all the servants understand .

In other part of the city, Alec was waiting for someone to answer the phone on the next line .

"Hello?" The person picked up.

"Is this Lisa?"

"Yeah. Who are yo-? Oh, Sir! " Lisa remembered his voice .

"Yeah, this is Alec. I want you to rejoin. "

"Really? Thank you, sir ."

And then the line was dead.

Alec asked Lisa to rejoin because he knew that it would make Rayne happy. Not showing his emotions, from within he was somewhere indulged with Rayne.

He thought about her and how he was extremely rude to her .

What ever happened happened, he only wanted Rayne's apology and appointing Lisa would definitely get him that.

Although both of them wouldn't agree, but they both knew that it was love at first sight. The love which they were trying to hide. The love, which makes the emotion bulge out to the surface. The love, which could make Rayne and Alec happy forever .

Nobody knew what will be the future because their chances of seeking love were falling.

Alec stood up from his, comfortable chair and sighed.

Reaching to his car and followed by driving, he reached to his house .

As he entered the mansion he saw, Chasity and James having a father-daughter time.

"Ohh! How are you son? " James greeted.

"Fine"was Alec's answer.

"C'mon sit with us. Eat something." Chasity squealed in .

And with out any further extension to the already dramatic scene, Alec sat with them, barely focusing on their bogus talks and delicious food.

All he thought about was framing a simple apology sentence.

Three hours passed, with him, finding no traces of Rayne.

He decided to write a letter and shove it under the door of the room in which she slept.

In accordance to his plan, he was now standing in front of her door with a letter in his hand .

There was a silence, that made him realise that something is wrong.

He twisted the door knob and entered inside and to his surprise Rayne was not in there. He placed the letter on the bed and after the satisfaction of staring at her stuff and room, he went back .

But the curiosity was eating him inside so he decided to ask someone .

"Where's Rayne?", he asked one servant.

The servant coloured deeply in his sunburnt skin, grew pale." Umm ...she went outside ."

" Where?"

"That I don't know sir. But tomorrow is the music festival, maybe she is practicing somewhere. "

Alec nodded and dismissed the servant .

Looks like I have to wait. Alec thought.

After waiting for the whole night he slept on the couch and woke up at the noon.

As soon as he did, he went straight into Rayne's room, but to his morose fate, the letter lay still, as it did for the first time when he kept it there .

This could mean only one thing: Rayne didn't return home last night but little did he know about it.

Anxiety was evident on his face now. Therefore, he thrived the best option to find her. Going to the Music festival .

Alec looked at his watch. 9:25 pm, it read . He searched the whole ground. Every single inch of the Music festival .

But no traces of Rayne, he found. Nothing. Miserably being failed he returned home .

His patience started trembling as the minutes ensued by.

Anger was on the brink of his nose and it ticked as he again didn't found Rayne .

A little unaware to the fact, that this miserable, morose, anxiety with impatience lurking in every second was for one who cares about someone who has left. Someone whom he loved but didn't know.

"Everyone! Gather in the living room, fast! " He shouted on the top of his lungs as he entered into his house.

Not even a minute it took for everyone to stumble inside .

"I will ask just once, Where's Rayne?!" Alec's bad tempered self grew more .

Everybody looked down. James and Chasity were no where to be found.

"Sir- I " a steep voice boomed in Alec's ears ,that were deliberate for an answer.

"Yes? Tell me ."

"He took her."

"Who?"

"Ron took her, " a servant budged in," James gave her to pay his debt."

Hearing this Alec's heart sunk to his stomach ."What?"

"Yes, sir . She was crying but he shoved her onto the car and took her ."

His heart pained. His senses went numb. Rayne cried .He took her . He could not even stand the thought of anything bad happening to her.

This was love, that he couldn't deny. It was Rayne, that he couldn't afford to loose.
