Chapter 28

28. Her misconception is cleared.

"What about this one?", Alec chirped like a little boy, his eyes were pleasing and earnest.

He held in his hand a stylish watch.

"For the umpteenth time, I am buying a gift for Ian, not for me, Alec", Rayne staccatoed.

"Fine." He said in a put out tone.

After roaming through the store, Rayne found the perfect gift for Ian. Then both headed towards the car after Rayne insisted on paying for it, since Ian was her brother.

Alec started the engine as Rayne got in the car. He started driving.

After very silence filled ten minutes he asked, "Can you do me a favour, Rayne?"

"Yes."

"Umm...Would you like to go with me to my friend's wedding?"

"I...don't-ah um...-",she looked for answers in her brain but it seemed like she couldn't deny and agree at the same time.

"Please, Rayne." He made a puppy dog face which almost made her heart to melt.

"Okay. I'll go."

"Yes! ", he pushed his hands away from the steering in excitement.

"Hey! Watch the steering!", Rayne shouted.

"Yeah." He placed his hands on them again. "So, the wedding is on Thursday and you'll have to pack your bag instantly after we reach home."

"Why? "

"Because wedding is not in Milauje. It is in Szalleto²."

"Oh-What!? It will take almost one day to reach there." She exclaimed.

"Yeah. So? "

"How'll I go to Ian's birthday? It is this Saturday."

"I'll ask him to come to the wedding too. Then we can celebrate it together in Szalleto. Plus, the city is a bliss."

"But- "

"No buts Rayne. You just agreed, remember?"

"But I didn't know it was in Szalleto."She protested.

"Well now you do."

"But that's not fair! You didn't tell me that earlier." She huffed and puffed her cheeks with flair of anger.

"So can I help you pack?" He raised his eyebrows.

"No." Rayne got out of the car as they reached to the mansion.

She stumbled upwards and emptied the bag she brought with her when she came to Milauje.

She packed all the necessities and Ian's gift too. She then went downwards but was stopped by a voice that came from Alec's room.

She knew that eavesdropping is a bad thing but she couldn't help but get more interested than ever.

Alec was on a phone call from William.

"Is she coming?", William asked from the end of the line.

"Yes. I also came to know that Caden's been released from jail. He is after Rayne. I have to keep her away from Milauje. " Alec answered loud enough for Rayne to hear .

"Do you have any plan for killing James?"

"I don't know how I'll kill James. I can't think of a nice plan. But I'll kill that bastard after the wedding. Its the perfect time. Also, I think Ian will help me kill him."
