29. Her beauty is his endurance.
Travelling through the midst of a desolate highway doesn't sounds fun at all but, travelling with someone is adventurous .
And when that someone turns out to be Rayne, then for Alec the adventure is like heaven.
Rayne's eyes were busy trailing the words of a book, whereas Alec was busy stealing glances at her.
"What are you reading?", he asked.
"A book." Alec narrowed his eyes at her stupid reply. She just laughed and said, "It's history. The world wars."
"Oh. I am so into it." Alec tried to build up some common liking which was far from possible.
"Oh yeah? Really?" Rayne raised her eyebrow.
"Yes of course. Ask me anything."
"Okay. This is very simple one. When did the first world war start?" Rayne asked the simplest question there was, but it just stressed neurons of Alec's brain. Of course, he didn't know the answer.
"Umm...when everyone was in the mood of war?", he answered awfully.
He might have answered ridiculously wrong but it did make Rayne laugh.
"No, you are so stupid!", she cooed.
"I know the answer though." His focus on the road seemingly increased.
"Really? Are you sure?" She closed her book.
"Positive. I just don't want to tell you."
"And...why is that?", she said stretching the first word.
"Because- Okay you won! I don't know." he finally surrendered.
"We were not playing anything, I suppose." She shrugged her shoulder and gushed lightly the word: Childish.
Few minutes passed in complete silence. Obviously, both were thinking what to state next, but were oblivious to each other's actions and thoughts.
On a cue of a foreseen strong relationship, Rayne was starting to open up. She was climbing out of her shell. Alec was beginning to laugh more and everything was just going perfect.
"Why did you close the book?", Alec asked. Very soon on that, ironically.
"I finished reading it."
"Oh."
"What exactly happened between you and Caden?"
He didn't answer but just stared at the road. His knuckles whitened and his grip on the steering wheel tightened.
"Alec, I asked you something?"
"Can we not talk about it?"
"Why? I mean, I should know-" Rayne was cut off but Alec's hard and rough voice.
"It is none of your business. Leave it."
"How come? It is my business. I got a new text from him, this afternoon. It is clearly my business."
"What did it say? Show me."
Rayne took out her phone and opened her inbox, selecting Caden's message. She then, handed it to him.
' Enjoy the wedding, can be your last ; )'
His face twitched with anger as he read the text. "Don't worry. Nothing will happen." He said.
"How can I not worry? What if something happens at the wedding? It will be all my fault."
"It won't. I turned him in to the police. I reported his girlfriend too. She was a murderer. Court sentenced her to death."
" What if he does something to Chasity?"
"No he won't."
"Why?"
"Because I don't love her."
"Oh."
After a few more minutes, Rayne's eyelashes started tiring and she drifted into a nice yet unpleasant sleep.
Soon Alec pulled up into a motel's parking lot and tried to wake up Rayne.
"Rayne. Wake up. " He shook her but she clumsily snuggled to the seat.
"Go away. Let me sleep", she muttered in her sleep, which was very cute.
Alec smiled at her and tried to think of a way to wake her up, when a thought came into his mind. He smiled from ear to ear.
Working on his thought, he slid his arms under Rayne's legs and back, picking her up.
She was too light for him. He loved the feeling that he was procuring right now.
He, without any hard work carried her to the room, which he had booked. She fitted perfectly into his arms. He loved when he touched her skin. It was so soft and fair. He placed her on the bed and stared at her with a warming smile.
She looked flawless in the dark blue coloured dress, he bought for her. Her brown coloured hairs were all over the place. Her lips were slightly parted and her eyelashes were so thick that they casted a shadow on her cheeks, that were tinted with pink. She was like an angel, if possible even more beautiful.
Alec's eyes staggered upon her feet. She was still wearing brown coloured flats. He kneeled down and removed them carefully, like his touch will harm her skin.
After that, he crawled up next to his centre of love and attention. According to him, his Rayne.
On the other opposite end, Chasity was waiting for Caden to show up, in Subway.
Chasity's face was caked up with make-up. Her dress was sparkly and short. Her hairs were less and fake.
"Waiting for me, darling?" A husky voice called, that belonged to Caden.
He sat down in front of Chasity and had already given the order.
"What's the plan? ",Chasity asked.
"Alec's friend's wedding is on Thursday. All you have to do is go there and keep him busy as well as away from Rayne. I will do the rest."
"At least tell me the whole thing." She snarled.
"Don't be so impatient. Just wait for it." He said and left the next moment.
Chasity got up too and minded her way out and to get a reservation for travelling to Szalleto
