Chapter 40

40. Her lips conceal pain.

Sometimes long, passed away, sorrowful and miserable years are the key to be feeling totally ecstatic about what one has procured today.
Real happiness is when you experience it after stance of unhappiness. No one can't be truly happy without knowing what missing happiness is like.

So is for Alec and Rayne. They are happy because they know what it feels like to stay apart.

Rayne's ankle was on fast recovery. She wasn't allowed to move for a day or two, as per the doctor.

Alec was infuriated by all sorts of disgusting people who gave Rayne such a hard time. Therefore, he decided to catch James and Freddy red handed or to say the least do their encounter and put their virulent gang members behind the bars.

It was cool chilly morning and Alec with his few fellow officers was ready to catch both gang leaders obsessed for relentlessly gaining power. James was so addicted to drugs that he, of all the people even agreed to make a drug deal with his brother, Freddy.

The deal sure seemed fishy because both of them wanted nothing but to shoot each other and this deal was the perfect occasion to meet and greet the next with death.

Alec came to know all of it and was already ready to take the two gangs down and the best part was that the deal was meant to happen in Milauje.

"Be ready. They are going to be here any minute", Alec ordered his battalion.

Not more than five minutes two black cars followed by many came into the driveway of a desolate warehouse.

James got out of the car first and so did Freddy. They both held nonchalant faces as for expression. The others got out of the cars too.

"Ah, brother , long time, no see", James started.

"Yeah , it has been a while-", Freddy snickered in response,"-We shouldn't waste time though because I have better things to do than to watch your face."

"I see you haven't changed a bit. Let's get this over with." James smirked all through the prior statement and asked one of the petty men standing behind him,"Pass me the bag of money."

The person who was ordered did as he was told.

"Now give me what I want!", yelled James.

"Actually, I didn't bring my part of the deal-", Freddy smirked,"- yeah , I didn't bring the drugs as I promised. You know why? Because I didn't come here to make a deal. I came here to kill you."

"I knew you'd pull off something like this, brother." James pulled out a shot gun from the back of his trousers and aimed it at Freddy.

"Is this all you've got? C'mon ", Freddy nodded at his gang member and they also pulled out gun and pointed them at James. Looking at this, all the others of James' side pulled out their weapons too.

This was the perfect moment for Alec to jump out from his hiding place. He ordered one of the officer to spread the tear gas. As for the plan, they all wore their masks and did as were told. The tear gas did a perfect job and all of the people in the warehouse were on the ground wearing their eyes out.

"Go!", Alec ordered. The officers nodded at his command and captivated the gang members and started to stuff them into the police van. More police cars came and it looked like all the things were under control.

Two of the officers handcuffed James and Freddy. Alec casted a smile at his victory and stood in front of the two.

"Looks like you two are doomed", Alec said earning a wicked groan filled with grudge from both of them. " Take them away."

"Not so fast!" , James yelled and kicked the officer and picked up a gun nearby, aiming it at Alec. Without even thinking, James hit the trigger and shot Alec right on the left side of the gut.

Alec groaned in pain and quickly the officer punched James square in the jaw, once again taking everything in control.

"Sir, we need to pull out the bullet from your body!", one of the officer exclaimed.

"Let's take him to the hospital", the other suggested.

"Hospital is way too far. His house is near! Take him there. I will call the doctor and tell him to reach there."

With blood oozing out of his body and pain filling his entire nervous system, he put his hand on the shot spot and the other officer helped him to the car. The person drove as fast as he could.

For Alec, even this small journey of few minutes felt like eternity.

"Sir, we have reached. C'mon!", the officer said as the car came to a halt. He quickly helped Alec into the house.

The doctor was already there and of course he had told everyone in the house about the bullet hitting Alec. This was clear because owing to the fact that the tension in the house of the atmosphere was already filled with anxiety. Ian, Caden, Amanda and Rayne stood at the doorway as the officer brought Alec in. Alec was laid on the couch.
Seeing that Alec's hand was covered in his own blood and his blue shirt was turning purple with the amount of blood it soaked, tears were evidently rolling down from Rayne's eyes. She gulped as she looked at him.

The doctor got in position with his equipments. He cut off Alec's shirt only to reveal his perfectly tanned body before grabbing alcohol to clean the wound.

Alec moaned in pain as the alcohol burned his wound. Rayne rushed and knelt down to the side of Alec. Her ankle pain was off limits to be felt right at the moment.

"Oh my, Alec", Rayne whispered.

"Don't cry Rayne." A smile crawled up on Alec's face seeing the beautiful brunette was crying for him. He sorely brought his hand to her face and with his thumb rubbed the tear away.

"I am going to take out the bullet and it will hurt. I can't give you anesthesia because it will take time to leave its effect and we can't let the bullet inside for that long", the doctor informed.

"Wait! Doctor, I know a way by which Alec will feel no pain", Amanda cooed despite of the tense situation.

"What?", Ian asked.

"Rayne, kiss him."

Rayne just blushed hard and Alec couldn't help but smirk like a pervert. Without any further ado, Rayne crashed her lips on Alec's lonely ones. Everyone one in the room smiled and doctor continued his task.

Their lips moved in sync. Alec smiled through the kiss and forgot all his pain. He cupped Rayne's cheek and Rayne's hand automatically moved to his soft hair. It started out as a slow passionate kiss but turned into a fast kiss filled with lust.

The doctor finished his whole task and was bandaging the wound when they both retreated, gasping for air.

"You can take this pain killer", doctor said as he kept the medicine on the table nearby.

" Yeah", Alec chimed shortly, "I don't need that."

Without even waiting, he immediately smashed his lips on his beloved's soft pink lips. For him, kissing Rayne was the best medicine on earth that could cure everything.

After all, love makes everything else blur.
