Chapter 3

03. Her existence is unwanted .

Alec wanted to know the answer. Is she so innocent that her father don't want me to spoil her?, he thought. Little did he know that the truth was the exact opposite.

"Because she is ugly", Chasity jumped into the conversation, although the remark lighten the tension, but this was not the truth.

Alec and Ian stared at her, like she has a tarantula spider stuck to her face.

" Chasity -", Ian protested but was cut off by his father .

"No more discussion! Rayne you can go",the unwillingness protruded in each word that James said .

" But daddy! I don't want to go with her", Chasity whined like a three year old.

Inwardly, Rayne was happy that she might attend the functions and festivals she was longing for, since forever. But again, she didn't want to be an unwanted weight.

"It is okay, Chasity. Please compromise last time", James muttered as if Chasity was compromising for Rayne since forever, although it was completely ironical, only Rayne and Ian understood the feathery support behind it.

"Yeah, Chasity would need a servant, right?", Alec commented and smirked.

On the opposite end of the room, Ian could feel his blood boiling. He clenched his fists, but sensing it, Rayne stopped him.

"So it is settled then. We will leave at eleven in the morning" Alec announced .

"Come on, Rayne." Ian said, exiting the room . They made their way to Rayne's room.

Rayne faced this almost every day, and now she was used to it. She always stopped Ian from doing anything violent. The reason why Rayne didn't run away was Ian .

" What did you do? " Rayne slapped Ian's arm.

"What? You said you wanted to go" he grabbed his arm .

" Yeah, but not like this." She looked down at her feet.

" Hey! These things don't happen very often. You should go " he started, " Just don't let them bully you, okay?"

Rayne nodded.

" And if anyone tries anything, just dial my number", he gave his sister a very warming hug .

" Thank you",she gushed .

" Anything for my sister", he kissed her forehead, " Now sleep, you have to pack a whole lot of things tomorrow."

"Good night ."

"Good night ", he closed the door .

Wish me luck, she thought before sinking into her bed and drifting into a nice sleep.
