Chapter 41

41. Her love is towards him.

Alec scratched his head and swiftly scrolled through his contacts. He was having a hard time deciding what stone Rayne would like on a ring.

'Ian',he thought, 'Ian would know?'

He felt nervous and very diffused. It has been two years since Rayne has been living with him and he didn't know her choice. That really left him diffident.

After all the conspiracies and troublemakers they have come across in their love life, everything was going just perfect like it should have been.

Alec's house was beautiful yet it never felt alive just until Rayne started living with him. He insisted for her to live with him. For the two, this couldn't have been less than a marvellous dream . Alec's house apparently now had four members: Ian, Amanda, Rayne and Alec himself.

There was no day he had passed without feeling ecstatic since then. Ian had married Amanda, a month ago. Vince was in jail for almost a year and had been out recently while Caden was out on bail and was happy too. As in for Chasity, she was starting to be more decent and lively. But, out of all this, all Alec could care about was Rayne and her smile. The way her eyes could light up his whole world was frolicsome and impeccable.

He knew that Rayne was not like any other overly sensitive girl who would get angry if he'd ask for her favorites but he literally did want to surprise her.

He dialed Ian's number and impatiently waited for him to pick up.

"Hello?", Alec spoke through the phone.

"Hey Alec. What's up?"

"Where are you?"

"In the kitchen. I am making dinner for everyone today."

"Yeah? You lost the best?"

"I didn't know Amanda is a professional at Flappy bird. I still think that she-"

"Shut up, Ian", Alec gushed interrupting Ian.

"What? Why so-"

"Is Rayne there?"

Ian furrowed his eyebrows and replied,"No, she's in the garden."

Alec let out a sigh of relief.

"Why are you asking though?", Ian muttered.

"I need you to tell me what is Rayne's favorite stone."

"Favorite stone? What for? I don't know."

"You don't know? What kind of brother are you?"

"Are you going to get her a ring? Let me ask her-- Rayne--"

"NO! No, what are you doing? Don't ask her!", Alec scorned at the stupidity and again gushed, "Don't tell her about any of this. Got it?"

"Yeah. But--"

"Bye." Alec put the phone call to an end as he hurriedly pushed the red button.

He again thought of anyone who would know.

'Now, I should probably call...", he kept on repeating the sentence as he again scrolled through his contacts.

'Amanda! She would know.' He had thought as he stumbled on her name.

Without wasting any time, he dialed her phone number. He impatiently waited until Amanda answered,"Hello?"

"Amanda! Is Rayne near you? "

"No but why do you sound so tense?"

"Good! Now, don't waste my time and tell me what stone does Rayne likes?"
