Chapter 33:
"I got the images and my grandpa is looking over them now." A girl, whose name I learned was Rebecca, said as she spoke with Yugi on Seto's laptop.
"Okay good, let's meet up as soon as possible." Yugi said I looked at Seto and rolled my eyes before I ran my hands through Mokie's hair as his head lay in my lap. He had been lulled to sleep after combining a full stomach, the steady movement of the helicopter, and the delay in transmission. Sadly, thanks to poor signal on their end, it took nearly an hour for the pictures to download. As I looked down at the younger Kaiba, he seemed so innocent. It's hard to believe he is not even a teenager yet after all he has been through.
I wasn't even paying attention to the conversation happening over webcam anymore, I found myself drifting into a world of lost thoughts. However, I felt Seto shift beside me, stirring me from my haze. I looked to see him focusing on the screen once more.
"Pharaoh, I'm afraid the quality of the images is much worse than I thought. Most of the carvings have been worn away or a too blurry for me to decipher. Unless we clear up these photos, I won't be able to read much at all."
"So we've flown halfway across the country for nothing?" I asked looking at Seto as he narrowed his eyes at the screen. He was annoyed but I also saw a gleam of determination in his eyes. He had a backup plan.
"Set course for Kaiba Corp Head Quarters in San Francisco. Immediately." Seto said to the pilots. There must be technology there that he can use to increase the quality of the pictures. But how are we going to get in if Seto is no longer CEO?
"Dude, are you nuts?" Tristian asked.
"Dartz and his gang must have already taken over the place by now."
"The only way we can process these images fast enough is by using my computer system. So we don't have a choice." Seto said looking at the group sternly.
"Say what?" Joey added. I swear that boy is an idiot.
"Kaiba has a good point, Joey. First, they took Pegasus away, and now they've taken over Kaiba's company, which means we have to stop these criminals before they make their next move. We have no time to lose."
"Wow, you're more gung ho than I expected. You know since you lost your title and all." Seto said smirking. I elbowed him in the ribs and glared at him.
"That was uncalled for and not necessary right now." I growled at Seto. He looked down at me and we were locked in a hard stare. Yes, my brother had lost to some random Dartz crony but now was not the time to rub salt to the wound.
"Kaiba, this fight is about so much more than mere championship dueling title! Don't you see people are getting hurt and the whole world is in danger!" Yugi's words snapped us out of our battle.
"Hm. Blah blah blah. Don't you get tired of making the same speech every time you're faced with a challenge? Stop saving the world and get a different hobby." Seto continued with his normal nonbelieving rant and I just shook my head. I didn't know what to do or believe at this point. I sighed. I knew Seto and Yugi were very different but I could tell those differences were going to be a greater hindrance if they didn't start at least trying to be on the same page. Our ultimate goal is to defeat this Dartz character, get Seto's company back, and in the process save the world from Yugi's point of view. Can't they agree for once in their lives?
As Yugi hung up with Rebecca and the professor, I stood and slowly shifted Mokie to Roland. I walked towards the back of the cargo space away from everyone. I sat down on a crate and looked out a nearby window.
"You know Rika; we will need your help convincing Kaiba before this is all over."
"Why me? You seem to be doing a fabulous job." I snapped sarcastically. I wanted peace and quiet and he had to come back to bother me.
