Camie was so outraged that all her hunger flew out the window in that second. She immediately turned the TV off and turned to Théa, worried. She almost talked but suddenly remembered that she still had food in her mouth. She started chewing angrily, staring at Théa. The latter didn't say anything but she did clench her jaw tight. Was she angry? Sad? Ashamed? Emma looked at the two of them for a bit before she sighed:

"Our society is really fucked up."

Topiary and Nylora both slowly nodded their heads:

"Black Gold being called a villain wasn't in my 2025 predictions.

-After all this time protecting us?

-This is disgusting."

Emma put her fork down slowly:

"After all of this, I wouldn't be mad at Black Gold for never showing up again."

Nylora quickly nodded:

"More than that! I would encourage her to disappear altogether. She doesn't deserve this! Whose stupid idea was this Broadcast anyway?

-She should just join Omen at this point."

Emma frowned but didn't say anything. Nylora and Topiary continued discussing how crazy that Broadcast was while Camie continued looking at Théa. The superhero had spent day and night protecting them. She gave up her entire life for them. When she wasn't risking her life she was patrolling the city, looking for Omen. She was even dreaming about her responsibilities. She was failing everyone in her nightmares from night to night. This was her entire reason to exist. She would feel useless without her title. What would she do? In the visions she believed that was all she had. Camie couldn't even imagine how devastating it must have felt for her.

Camie raised her hand and rested it on Théa's arm lightly. She almost wasn't touching her and could have been shaken off with the tiniest movement. Théa didn't shake her off, however. On the contrary, she turned to Camie with surprised eyes and immediately softened her features. She leaned closer into Camie's touch and smiled at her. Camie thought it was a good sign and she lowered her hand to link her fingers with Théa's.

"Do you want more chicken?"

Théa stopped listening the second she felt Camie's skin. She tried her best focusing on her words but all she could feel was Camie's pulse against hers. She felt terrible but had to ask her to repeat herself:

"I'm sorry, could you say it again?"

Camie started panicking. Was Théa so sad that she couldn't focus anymore? She had to quickly divert her attention. Or should she make her talk about it? Not too soon. That wasn't good either. She needed time to digest. Should she ask her friends to leave? But Nylora wasn't feeling good either... Camie really needed some exterior help. Could she call her dad for a few minutes?

"Camie?"

She shook her head. She didn't have minutes. She had to focus on Théa right now. Eating would force her body to calm down. That was good.

"Would you like some more chicken?"

Théa shook her head but that only made Camie's complexion worse so she quickly changed the angle in which she was shaking her head and started nodding:

"Sure. Thank you so much."

Camie jumped up, wanting to rush to the kitchen but seeing her do so made everyone worried:

"Camie! Sit down.

-Please don't push yourself, Camie. I can get myself more chicken."

Camie really wanted to help but was forced to sit back down while the girls brought more food over. Camie tried her best to divert Théa's attention for the rest of the day and pulled out game after game to play. She was talking so much that she had to drink water nonstop and soon visited the toilets regularly. Slowly Théa started laughing again and she did look like she relaxed a bit but Camie was sure she couldn't have forgotten about it that fast. Who would have?
